Diesel gate

I've owned 3 diesel cars from new in the past 10 years. I guess I'm due a pretty penny 😉0

I didn't buy it for any other reasons than I liked it and it would serve well as a family car.
I could join in on the claim but I won't on principle. I didn't lose out in any way, so why should I claim anything 🤷
Dad was against claiming but now said he will and give the compensation to a charity that is plating trees in england
to make the air cleanner. We are hoping for at least the full price of the car.0 -

Someone is living in cloud cuckoo land. Still the air must be fresh there.2

Average VW payout was £2000 less commission.1

Exhaust emissions include fine particulate matter, NOx and CO2.
Diesels are 'greener' when it comes to CO2 relative to petrol. They emit a lot less CO2 and the higher MPG means lower fuel consumption.
However, they emit a lot higher concentrations of fine particulate matter and NOx, hence the need for downstream hardware that reduces these concentrations in the exhaust system (DPF, etc.).
Which was your Dad most concerned about?diystarter7 said:Since the recall, less MPG, idle not as smooth and polluting a lot more so he was sold a lie.
MPG is highly affected by how you drive and external factors. Your Dad can greatly affect its emissions and MPG by the way he drives, by ensuring low speeds, low revs and good anticipation of traffic. Aggressive acceleration and high revs, with late braking will greatly increase the MPG and emissions far more than the software can.
Therefore, you are essentially complaining about a fix that may be responsible for less smooth idle...diystarter7 said:We are hoping for at least the full price of the car.
Only figure I've read so far is that one claimant got £350...so I wouldn't hold your breath....

It's a shame they can't be forced to do a buy back, get those cars off the road.0

I've had two VW Group cars with the EA189 engine in the time period. I'm getting lots of emails and social media feeds suggesting I make a claim. Out of curiosity I've put the Reg Nos in and are two sites it says neither car is eligible. Has the claims period ended for VW and if so why do I keep getting hassled to claim?0
