Not really. Unit rates are higher than we expect by the latest predictions.

But they are not far off, so expect an annual bill of over £6000.

EDF have offered and I've just accepted for now but feeling really ripped off!

Looking at what others have been offered by their companies and disgruntled at not being allowed to switch!! why is that?? I feel like it just adds to the lack of market forces competition to help keep the prices down!

    Electricity
    Original Tariff:
    28.29p unit standing charge 48.15p
    offered: 56.82p same standing charge

    Gas
    Original tariff
    7.44p  standing charge 27.22
    offered Tariff
    17.44p standing charge the same

    Annual Usage:
    Elec 6219KWh Gas 26,079KWh

Feeling sick at my estimated £698 pm DD!!!
It's going to be a long cold winter!! Glad I can knit! Jumpers all round!!!

That is a very high annual gas consumption!! More than twice the average - might be worth looking into getting that down a bit?
    might have more rooms.
my elec 15,000 and gas 46,000 annual.
    fixed in feb @ elec : 0.33/kwh ... gas:0.09/kwh
Good rates but what are you doing to reduce your usage £9360 a year is quite the bill.
Sometimes, it’s simply the size of the house. If it’s a particularly large house the energy consumption is likely to be high whatever steps you take - unless you knock it down and rebuild.

Wow didn't think of that 😉

    🤣🤣🤣 Honestly

Being a money saving forum it would be remiss of us not to ask some questions of the person posting to see if they wanted to save energy and reduce costs?

I'd think that the way to tell if what you are being offered in present conditions is "reasonable" or fair is to compare it with what you can get from other suppliers, direct or via a search engine.

There are also unknown unknowns - the one's we don't know we don't know
  • A thread - with loads of comparisons appeared on twitter with Martin at'ed

-I'm not allowed to share urls - but it contains interesting discussion also - over on twitter - the stream should be findable via Martins twitter account MartinSLewis.

Fair set of feedback across the platform.

I would suggest that everybody who currently has an offer for a fix should immediately take it and use the cool off to do further checks.

It will be only matter of hours before all current fixes are withdrawn. That happened after every new prediction.

What looked inflated yesterday might look brilliant tomorrow.

im being offered £309 a month from £202 -shall i pull the trigger?

Assumed annual usage elec-2,876kWh  gas- 14,447kWh

    this is Eon

  • I've opted in to BG Oct23v4 - it works out a penny cheaper than the average posted above for both fuels. Also I've just checked my usage based against their estimated figures, they are waaaay over actual units thanks to new boiler installed in Jan - with the way prices are it might actually pay for itself inside 1 year!
