Re the BG price promise tariff which states it will be £1 per fuel under the April price cap - do you take this to mean £1 per fuel unit cost or total annual cost? If it’s unit cost, seems a very good offer? Probably too good so I guess it’s not that!

28 02 24, What do Energy Providers do with all their Customer's Direct Debit over payments they hold on to ? They should be compelled to publish the sums involved, & debts too. Is'nt it The Law, or ' The Rules, that they are only allowed to keep upto an amount equal to the monthly Direct Debit amount ? I'm sure l read this somewhere towards the end of last year.0

My feelings entirely. Tonik were renowned for this until they went under. I use variable D/D's to avoid the trap and the arguments.Telegraph Sam

I'm with a small company called Home Energy. They seem to be cheaper than anything else I can currently find, even Eon Next pledge?0

I use Octopus as a yardstick. Standard or "smart" tariffs depending on how deeply you want to get into the number crunching. I'd have doubts about going with a very small co these daysTelegraph Sam

EDF 12 month fix - No exit fees if change to another EDF fixed tariff, otherwise £50 per fuel ( Source Uswitch and post on another related thread)
£347 a year less than the current price cap and £109 - 6.5 percent - less than the figure that comes into effect on April 1.
The fixed rate tariff works out at £1,581 a year based on typical use and is the cheapest deal on the market since October 2021.
It is being offered by EDF through the price comparison and switching website Uswitch.com. Existing EDF customers can also access the same fixed rate deal directly with the company.

My gut feeling is to "stay with the devil...."
I'm not sure that EDF has got such a good consumer rating
I would not normally switch unless there was a significant advantage in doing so. How in your informed view does EDF stack up against Octopus?Telegraph Sam
