Can you please give us information where we can find this rule that they have to honour a their offer for 90 days?jonathon4242 said:freshfunk said:
It's also interesting and odd that you got offered a new deal around 3 months before your current fix ended. My current Sainsburys fix ends on 30th September. The first communication I got from them titled "You're ready to renew" was sent on August 16th!jonathon4242 said:I've secured a fixed deal with Sainsburys Energy from when my current deal finish on the 6th October this year,Fixed Deal I've been offered by email (I was offered this in June but only action ed it today but they seem to havethey messaged me on 22nd August saying it was time to renew for 6th October end of contract, I was totting up how many days it was since I was offered the 1year Smooth Renew tariff and it was around 73 days, I'm not entirely sure but if they offer you a tariff you have up to 90days to accept and they have to honor that but as I said not entirely sure about that.
I honestly can't remember where I heard/ read that. It might have been on MSE somewhere but it would have been around May time when I was doing a bit of digging. If I come across it I will let you know 👍

Fact is that there is no rule how long they have to honour an offer. They can withdraw the offer an hour later if there is no guarantee given.jonathon4242 said:pochase said:

Most current offers even have a warning that it might be withdrawn any time.0 -
I have decided to decline this for now, I just can't face cementing in double the price for gas and electricty when we are approaching winter. I am going to roll the dice and reduce my usage significantly and relyo on the flexi.littlemissbossy said:
Yes, I’ve just taken this. Not sure if I’ve done the right thing but no exit fee’s if I change my mind.Fromdownwest said:Afternoon all
Number from the calculator show
The new tariff you've been offered is 131% more than your current tariff.
Currently on Octopus Flexi
Elec 47.88 per day 28.29 per kwh
Gas 27.22 per day 7.43 per kwh
Offered
Elec 47.88 per day 67.49 per kwh
Gas 27.22 per day 18.09 per k
Seems a lot of money to buy security! Anyone else taken the jump with Octopus
Time will tell if I will rue this decision, it just feels right at the minute.1 -
Hiya Everyone, this is my first post so please let me know if It's in the wrong place... My daughter just came to the end of a one year price fix with e.on and was immediately offered another fix at just 40% more than her old fix. I'm also on e.on but on a flexible tariff and don't seem to be able to find any fixes anywhere close to that. Is there something I'm missing or do e.on operate some kind of two-tear system favouring people coming off fixes with very low prices - does anyone know please?0

Hi @BWill. what rates has your daughter been offered, and what is the name of the tariff?BWill said:Hiya Everyone, this is my first post so please let me know if It's in the wrong place... I am very sure that this is an error on their side. She should accept immediately and than we have a closer look.BWill said:Hiya Everyone, this is my first post so please let me know if It's in the wrong place... She has a cool off period if she misunderstood something.0 -
That entirely depends on what her previous fixed rate was.BWill said:Hiya Everyone, this is my first post so please let me know if It's in the wrong place... If her previous fixed rate was at a level above the current price cap, then the new rate offered may not appear to be expensive.0 -
As an aside, Octopus Agile v3 is showing a 30 min period tomorrow evening at 22.93 kWh. That’s the first time I’ve seen it below the 35p cap in weeks.0

I am on British Gas variable (for electricity only) having been tossed back to BG by two previous busted suppliers.
At present we pay: 29.484p KwH
British Gas are offering us a fixed tariff (Sep 23v4), of: 69.9p KwH
MSE say only to switch tariff if it's not over 145% of what paying now.
By my calcs, present tariff plus 145% is 60.3p
So I'll be staying put at present.0
