Feeling pretty sick about all this :(  My BGas Evolve fix ends in 5 days here's what they've offered...

    Current rates (I pay £54 DD/mth & currently £110 in credit)
Elec: 17.25p per kWh,  S/C 19.35 per day
Gas:   3.20p per kWh,  S/C 14.67 per day

Offered 12month Fix to Fixed Energy V15: (DD fixed £139.99/mth)
Elec: 33.63p per kWh,  S/C 53.63 per day
Gas: 10.15p per kWh,  S/C 34.04 per day

    OR Standard Variable: (DD £114.95/mth)
Elec: 28.29p per kWh,  S/C 48.15 per day
Gas:   7.44p per kWh,  S/C 27.22 per day

Annual usage is: Elec 2,932 kWh, Gas 3,530 kWh.
Hi I’m in the same boat. Using more 12000 gas and 6000 electricity. I used the rates here to project on the average usage of 2900 electricity and 12000 gas - approx 2500 which is approx 21% more than April’s capped rates. (My maths could be wrong)

Kinda tempted as it means with summer and less usage the higher rates won’t be as bad until winter. Are you going for it?

    I'm with ovo on SVR
    My offers are
1 year better smart (I don't have a smart meter)
    1 year better energy
    or 2 year fixed
Personally, assuming you don't mind the uncertainty, I'd stay on the SVR. None of those offers look very tempting.

Given today’s statements, is the OVO 2 year offering the best we can hope for the foreseeable future?

Just reading the post about the EDF 2 year fix and looks like I might have been offered it.

My deal ends the month and I can see on standard variable it's gone up £60/month and for another £32 I can go for the 2 year Total Long Term fix but with £300 exit fees.  Not sure if with the imminent October ride whether it's worth it.

Yet on an email from them it states I'll be paying £1059 for electricity and £564 for gas on the variable or for Fix Total Service May 24 it would be £1274 and £735 so almost £400/year more. Not sure if this is the same as the Fix Total Service May 24v3 as mentioned in the post?
Same offers as me (but I have a higher usage!) The SVR seems more tempting but the expected rise in October could add another 30% plus, when it is likely to become more expensive than the Total Long Term Fix.
Yep and with today's news makes it even more appealing. Just a niggly thought for me is that it's for 2 years and if they are predicted to go down in April, they might go down again in October and start sliding down but a £300 exit is a lot.

Will be a gamble either way it seems.

This British Gas Exclusive May 23v1 one-year fix does not exist on my account.
  • Hi any help would be great.
so currently we are on British Gas SVR
    Gas - 27.22 per day
    p/kWh - 7.365

    electric -47.581p day
    P/kWh -29.584
we currently pay £220 a month they are wanting to put our direct debit up too £366 a month we have refused to pay this.
They are offering us a fixed deal till may 2023 £305.49p per month

    Gas - 30.645 per day
    p/kWh - 10.528
    electric -53.746 per day
    p/kWh - 36.671

Our last bill from august 2021-may 2022 was £1700.

With the predicted rise coming in October is it worth me fixing in too the may 2023 fixed deal tarriff ? I can’t quite work it out, I’m baffled how they can  offer me a fixed deal that’s cheaper per month than they want off me for being on the SVR rate??

Any help would be great 👍

As an EV Owner it looks like OVO Drive may just be about 27% above the price cap
it's 12 month fix so I'm going for it :
    Elec - 37.39 unit 40.48 sc
    Gas - 10.83 unit 26.21 sc

but you must own or lease an EV

Ok so I've just done some calculations as I see I'm paying £87/month not £75

So at £87/month adding in the existing 54% that comes in at £134/month which is close to my svr offer of £135. If I then add in today's 42% in October, that comes in at £190/month which means that 2 year fix at £167 make sense although we would have 4 months at the higher figure with a total of £128.

    Digging a bit deeper

    Fix
June to Jan cap change would be =£1169

    SVR
June to Oct cap change would be £540
Oct to Jan cap change would be £570
    Total = £1110

    SVR wins

But I guess if Jan is going to stay the same as Martin has just said on the TV we might as well work forward to April

    Fix
June to April would be £1670

    SVR
June to Oct cap change would be £540
Oct to April cap change would be £1140
    Total = £1680

Hardly anything in it. So gamble would be the April change but if it dropped you would have £300 exit fee

Also noticed EDF is allowing me to make an extra payment. With my tariff ending in a week I'm not sure if it's worth it?

I’m currently, with EDF my fixed tariff ends on 30th June, I currently pay £104 a month for Gas and Electricity.
Email today I have a credit refund of £125.76, and they are increasing my monthly payments to £212 a month based on standard variable.
However, they are also offering an existing customer renewal deal “full service tariff” fixed until May 24 at £254 a month 🤔 anyone good at working out if this is a worthwhile consideration please?
