Am now investigating whether there is an appropriate Environmental Health contact to flag this up with.
Thank you jon81uk, this was the kind of helpful response I was hoping for from the forum. Thank you for the FSA link.0 -
Many years ago, money was tight so my sister and I didn't get a heap of Easter eggs each. We just had one small egg each, which were doled out in small helpings over a few nights, with the remaining bits of chocolate being placed out of our reach in a high wall cupboard.
Then my sister, in mid chomp, cried out in pain having bitten a metal screw....
My mum wrote a stiff letter of complaint, and you can imagine our delight when we received not only a very nice written apology, but also a large hamper of assorted choccy treats.
A week later the cupboard door fell off....16 -
I call troll.
OP - you took a photo, upload it here so we can see.
And upload the letter.

This piece of poo was much too large to be from a rodent.soolin said:
I think most of us assumed you meant rodent droppings, and sometimes if they have been in the manufacturing process for a while they are not obvious smell wise, and the smell wasn’t obvious if you ate it and didn’t notice!Wauricchio said:
The smell is very strong and very clear what it is (post chewing and spitting out). Surely everyone know what poo smells like?Manxman_in_exile said:Serious question...
Never having indulged in coprophagia myself, how has the OP identified the foreign matter in question?
Have you ever seen rat poo ?

The evidence should in theory be sent to the manufacturer for them to investigate, this could take a while to get a response so in the past Ive gone straight to the mamufacturer.Wauricchio said:
Wouldn't my evidence and complaint just disappear if I do this? Then I won't be able to prove anything.Deleted_User said:Send your complaint and evidence to the retailer.0 -
Thats how ive done it before, I find going to the maanufacturer is easier and if a product is faulty the manufacturer needs to know so they can investigate it and correct it.Brie said:I've complained about a variety of products over the years - fortunately not for the reason you quote.
Normally all I've done is send a polite email, with photos of packaging, barcode, receipt if I have it, detailing when and where the product was purchased, how much I was looking forward to consuming it and how dreadful the actual experience was.
Inevitably I have received an apology and something that exceeds the purchase value of the item. Opened a jar of jam to find it was already mouldy - a dozen jars of their most popular jams delivered. Bought cheddar cheese popcorn to discover it was actually cheese and onion flavour - humongous box of bizarre flavours of popcorn most of which were too weird for me to eat so I gave them away (Christmas dinner flavour??). And for my cats - a box of store brand fish packets contained an empty packet for the competitors identical item - obviously both produced in the same factory (which I pointed out to the fussy mogs) and got a gift voucher equal to over twice the price of what I had paid.
But always polite, always telling them how good I find their products normally (or how much my cats do) and it's good feedback for them and they will respond positively.
Im glad you didnt say you went to the papers as that winds me up.

Am I the only one who wants to see a photo?
Many years ago a friend and I both bought a lasagne each from a supermarket. We each found we had a half of a biropen inside it.1 -
I’m probably going to regret asking this but what do you think it was from if not a rodent? Because the only alternative would seem to be a factory worker somehow managing to smuggle their own excrement in and managing to place it in an egg without anyone noticing.Wauricchio said:

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.1 -
Oh, thank you!! Me too. . . New poster, spelled Easter incorrectly (deliberately?) Also the contaminated eggs in the news weren't even made or distributed in the UK. . .anotheruser said:I call troll.

Might help if the OP could narrow it down to a species.2
