    You'll need -

    strong bread flour
    fast acting yeast
    salt
    butter
    sugar
    water

    for a basic white loaf.

Any good sites where i can get more recipes?

When i was younger the way to add fresh yeast to making bread was using luke warm water and mixing the yeast in. (there was a proper way with using the temp of the flour with the temp of water etc but 1/3 hot 2/3 cold is fine)

Just wanna know if this is ok for the bread maker

I have had a breadmaker for 18 months which I use every day. I used to start the yeast off in the way you say, but it actually works well if you just add it without starting it off. This way, you can also use it on the delayed setting, as long as the yeast doesn't touch the water ,sugar or salt. You can get free yeast from Asda bakery.

Wecome one and all to the wonderful world of the Panasonic bread makers.:T

Never will you view bread in the same manner, where once you bought a loaf now you will sniff and say 'I can make bread that not only tastes better, is cheaper to produce and is nutritionally far better for you than the shop bought [strike]crap[/strike] stuff'.:D

New friendships will be formed in the flour aisle in your various stores, where recipes are exchanged and tips are given.;)

Your home will smell wonderful and your friends will love to come around especially if you have a loaf baking.

You'll get top brownie points from your partner/children for making bread/pizza/cakes at the drop of a hat.

If you overhear anyone saying they're considering getting a breadmaker you'll enthuse wildly about how easy it is and how they must get a Panasonic (Panny to it's friends) or a Morphy Richards Fast Bake (which is also supposed to be good).:T

Erm, you may put on a little bit of weight with all the bread that will have to be made and [strike]devoured[/strike] eaten.:o

  • This thread is becoming quite a good laugh. I never knew there could be so many people out there getting all excited over a breadmaker...me too for starters. We could start a new thread soon and everyone can post on how they got on with their bread making. I have wanted a bread maker for a while now but could not justify spending £99 on a machine in case it was not up to it...but at this price of £39, it is well worth the wait.

Remember to post on how you got on with baking and most importantly...

    Was it NICE?

Another sad person here excited about a breadmaker! :j
Mine arrived yesterday, I've been at work all day and have been dying to get my hands on it. It's on the fast bake programme at the moment, can't wait to see how it comes out. :T Thanks again.

    Mine's just arrived. :T
I was also hoping to open it and have a look but the box is sealed with those big staple things so I will tear the box if I do. :(
Ah well, I shall have to be a good girl and wait for Father Christmas to bring it on Christmas morning.....:D
