    Morning all,

Yes very mse @maman - want to retire early and having 2 children at uni right now is not helping lol!
Great that DDad went to club again @bubbs. Do you make your own cauli rice or buy it?
Good that you haven't changed in 20 years @Vegastare and hopefully it was someone you didn't mind bumping into lol!

The SW chicken jalfrezi was okay.... used hot curry powder and garam masala but could've done with it being hotter. 2 portions leftover so they've been frozen. DH is away overnight on Monday and I'm in London that day, so can feel a ping meal of lo curry coming on. I'm in London today and suited and booted as boss has a number of guests in for a meeting (even ordered refreshments wow!).

    Food today:
B - overnight oats, frozen cherries, vanilla mullerlight - HEB, 0.5
    L - M&S orzo and roasted tomatoes, grapes - 2.5
D - SW bacon, ham and spinach pasta - free
    HEA - milk
    HEA - mini babybel
Syns - hi fi bar 3, flump 3.5(!), 0.5 at breakfast so 7 total

Found flumps in Tesco last night and bought a couple - used to be 3 syns but have gone up to 3.5 - typical!

    Have a good day all

Morning all, looking a bit windy but forecast to be dry - might have to have a look to see if there's enough washing to do another load as it looks perfect drying weather!!!

Good to hear your dad was happy at the Day Centre @bubbs but sorry to hear he might have a prostate trouble although that is at least treatable as long as he hasn't left it too long before seeking help.

I did the chicken jalfrezi the other day too @Coxy11 but only had medium curry powder so added a bit extra plus a bit extra garam masala and both DH and I like it and said we'd definitely have it again.  The garam masala I have at the moment is hotter than any other one I've ever bought - and of course I can't remember where I bought it!  Typical!  So it will be pot luck again when I need to buy some more!

    Today's plan:

B - oats; grapes (forgot to get the frozen fruit out!) - HEB; F
    L - roasted stuffed peppers - HEA2; S; F
    D - lamb curry; rice - P; S; F; 2

    HEA1 - milk
    HEA2 - cheese
    HEB - oats
Syns - 50ml light coconut milk 2 (need to rein them in after yesterday's lunch!)

    Have a good day everyone.

Morning all.  Hope the visitors don't disrupt your day too much @Coxy11 - hate it when we have visitors in as feel like I have to be on my best behaviour but something always goes wrong 😂

Glad to hear your dad was happier at the day centre this week @bubbs, fingers crossed for his appointment on Monday.

Kept thinking yesterday was Friday as wasn't in the office so today is going to feel like a real slog!  Had some porridge for breakfast and then lunch is the penultimate portion of vegetable soup from the freezer.  Tonight we're having leftover veggie goulash that's been in the freezer for a while with some rice and maybe some added broccoli on the side.  Also going to have an alcoholic beverage of some kind this evening as feel like I need a little treat after a rather frustrating week at work!

Hope you all have a good day!

    Really don't like offal.

We got a SW hunters chicken from Iceland yesterday and had that with their roast potatoes and added our own steamed veg. Very nice it was and was just about in my capabilities to do as I was having a better day, paying for it today though as I am completely wiped out and confined to my bed.

We are going out to a concert Monday and I am concerned about what to have to eat in the evening, we're leaving after lunch so that part is sorted but I can't go from 12 noon until the next day (we won't get home until well after 1am) without something to eat and would prefer to stay within syns and on plan as I really want to get that 10% before we finish at SW. There are a fair amount of food places where we are going but I'm rather against paying a fortune for a salad, half a meal or with all joy removed. Taking a pack up isn't really feasible either.

To make matters worse, we are repeating the exercise the following week too except that time we are staying over in a hotel!

I think we have made our decision not to ask about an extension for our referral, it really doesn't suit our lifestyle as it is too inflexible and is costing far too much in food (my food budget has gone through the roof, I'm spending more in fruit alone than I was before for my entire weekly shop) and we have far more freedom of choice in cost, flexibility on the go and calories by calorie counting.

It has served its purpose though and got us back on the weight loss trail and in the right mindset. We've also enjoyed getting to know the people at group, all have been very supportive even if I do have to put up with the weekly "Oh, you'll be able to get rid of the wheelchair soon" comments, sadly that will never be the case and it hurts/upsets me to hear it each time as no amount of weight loss will improve things in that department.

@SingleSue - at the concert you're going to is there likely to be a jacket potato stall or a hog roast?  Both of these options can be had within syns.  Have a jacket with beans and salad; or you could have hog roast meat with some salad.  Bit more difficult if these are unlikely to be available.  I know you said you can't take a pack up but how about a flask of hot soup?  Would that be a possibility?

Sorry that you have decided to not ask for another referral but to calorie count but it's good that you've got back onto the weight loss trail.  You can still continue posting on here if you think it would help you and you can also still continue with the principles of the plan but without the cost which seems to be one of the main problems for you as well as not always being able to cook on plan meals.

@Vegastare - well done on your lb loss - it's definitely going in the right direction!  I can't believe that BT are still working on the fault - I hope they'll give you some compensation for the inconvenience.

No idea if they are available but it gives me something to check. A jacket potato is a good option but it would need something to give moisture, a dry jacket is not particularly pleasant and as a non lover of beans (especially on a jacket of potato, I can just about stomach a teaspoon of them in a separate pot to dip a sausage in), it makes it awkward and is one of the reasons I have pretty much avoided having jacket potatoes although I suppose I could take the syns and see if they had gravy, that at least would make it more palatable. I worry about a hog roast, what it has been cooked in and how, what sauces etc and potentially high syns.

I think this is where it all falls down for me, I'm too scared to eat on the go in case there are hidden syns, alternatives can be too expensive or availability not there so I'm tending to go without which isn't healthy. I also find it hard to justify paying full price if you are only having half of a meal (so taking off chips, mash etc), especially as salad is cheap and they tend to pile it up with rocket which I absolutely detest (what happened to good old normal lettuce?) and I end up paying £££ for a slice or two of cucumber, a few slivers of red onion and maybe half a teaspoon of sweetcorn if I am lucky.

I do think their syn search thingy needs to be updated with the syn values for eating out places, they are not easily available and it is a major issue with the much said 'plan for life', how on earth can you plan when you can't find out how much eating out is going to cost you in syns to make the right, or at least better as it can never be completely exact, choices?

Sorry, I'm in a moan mood this morning as I'm feeling restricted, too at 'sea' because the information just isn't there to plan and I'm a planner and it has put my head in a bit of a spin and making me feel I have lost control. This is never a good thing for me, especially around food as it can lead to issues.

Re soup, I don't have a flask and there are restrictions on what can be taken into the venue plus of course I would end up being Billy no mates sitting outside whilst the rest of the group have a meal.

@SingleSue Eating out is always a hurdle.  Depending on the venue you're going to, is there an option to eat at a chain restaurant before you go in?  Something like Nando's (where you can have a relatively low syn meal of butterfly chicken breast, broccoli, salad or corn on the cob as a side?  Or a Weatherspoons where there are chicken skewers, gammon steak or a jacket you could have?  Tortillia is a good option with like a burrito bowl if there's one around.  I know @Mrs_Ryan used to go to lots of events all over the country and would always grab some cooked chicken and packs of fruit from a supermarket to munch on beforehand, but if everyone else is eating a "meal" then it can feel a bit weird if you're just having a drink because you ate on the go.
