If you make a beef curry what cut of beef do you use? a steak thinly cut?

@bubbs - I tend to use lean stewing steak for curry.  I wouldn't use steak, bit expensive for curry!

    Morning all,

Box room woodwork painted last night. I was flying solo as DH was working until about 9 - the pitfalls of home working...! Top coat tonight. We enjoyed the plaice and sweet potato fries but it was 15 syns for the both. I'd already had a hi fi bar plus the Greggs meal, so well over yesterday. I enjoyed the Greggs meal - I ate it cold as was hungry but think it would be better warmed up. They can do it for you if you sit in.

Today I am meeting a 'friend' for coffee at lunchtime. One of the 'friends' who snubbed us at the wedding a few weeks back who has finally got in touch to check in. Should be an interesting conversation!

    Food today:
    B - poached egg, spinach, mushrooms - P, S
    L - HM soup, WM roll - S, HEB
    D - not sure?

I will pick up something for dinner when I'm in the town later. I have to pop to Sainsbugs anyway to collect something from Argo$.

    Have a good day all,
    Coxy

Morning all, a bit grey again this morning but hopefully brightening up again later like it did yesterday; ended up quite warm yesterday afternoon.

We managed together some carpet from the carpet warehouse where we bought the piece for the motorhome.  Managed to find a big enough piece reduced to £35!  Really pleased with that, was expecting to have to pay 2-3 times more than that.  The reason it was so cheap was because there's a crease on the backing but didn't matter as DH needed to cut it as it quite a bit bigger than we needed - so a good bargain.

We're going away in the motorhome this weekend.  Hoping to go this afternoon but had an email yesterday to say a parcel is being delivered today and can't be left "safe" or with a neighbour so have to wait for an email this morning to find out what time it's arriving.  Depending on whether it's going to be here reasonably early this afternoon we'll either go after it arrives or may even leave it and go tomorrow morning.

    Today's plan:

    B - eggs & mushrooms on toast - HEB; P; S
    L - jacket potato, cottage cheese, salad - P; S; F
    D - LO stew, mash - P; S; F (think I overdid the pearl barley at bit!)

    HEA - milk
    HEB - bread
    Syns - couple of G&Ts 6

    Have a good day everyone.

Hope the meet up went well @Coxy11. 😊

You did well to find another carpet offcut @joedenise. I'm still holding out on the heating here but loving my new heated throw for later in the evenings. The trouble is, it's so cosy it sends me to sleep. 😴

I think it depends how you plan to make the beef curry @bubbs. If you cook it slowly like a casserole then beef cubes would be fine. If you just wanted to add a ready made sauce then you could stir fry some strips of steak or use LOs from a roast. 🤔

I've done my meal plan and shop today. We're eating out next Thursday and possibly Wednesday as well but on plan up to then.

    Today's EE plan -
B- HEB porridge, HEA milk, plums (S), banana (F)
    L- LO corned beef hash (P, F, S), beetroot (S)
D- baked salmon (P), SW chips (F), tomatoes, mushrooms, broccoli, green beans (S)
    Syns - weekend wine 👏

Thanks for the replies, like you Maman i fell asleep last night about 9.20 woke up at 10.40 and went bed 🤣🤣 We have the heating on for an hr in the evening and DH said that'd why we are falling asleep as we are snug 🤣

I won't be doing either, hate slow cooker food and will be using a spicentice mix. I think cubed beef is too chunly for a curry as when you have from Chinese etc it's thin slicles.
Anyhow i took mum & dad shopping today and said to her, she said would have thought steak thinly sliced, we will ask Richard (butcher) he said steak too, so bought a piece :D well i lie i never bought it Mum did  she always buys me something for taking them as i won't take petrol money 🙄

    Denise have a nice weekend.

Food today i had a breakfast stack, mushroom, tomatoes, 2 slices bacon and 2 eggs 😋

    banana

Fake KFC , BNS chips and salad

Fake KFC for dinner on Friday @bubbs. Feels like a bit of normality in these chaotic times. 😊

We've had our heating on tonight. I planned for an hour or so to just warm the house up but DGD1 called round unexpectedly and left it on to be hospitable. To hell with the expense! 🤣

    Morning all,

Off to WI shortly. My challenge was to drink more fluids this week and the new water bottle is helping. We shall see what the scales say! We had beef stir fry last night and it was really tasty.

Meet up with 'friend' went okay. I told her exactly what's what and you know - she didn't even apologise, so that speaks volumes.

More decorating today - box room walls and ceiling, another pine wardrobe to French!c (DH will go buy the paint whilst I'm at group), and wallpapering a feature wall in our bedroom. I have sorted another 2 bags for the charity shop plus we have a growing pile for the tip. Still need to book a slot here so will do that now, hopefully for tomorrow.

Will take a hi fi bar to group and will christen other meals later once I've been food shopping.
    Have a good day all,
    Coxy
