Morning all - sorry a lot to catch up on so apologies if I've missed anything huge. Sorry to hear you your DD @Coxy11
hope she's feeling better soon. Hope you have a not too busy day after not a lot of sleep!
I had my covid and flu jabs on Thursday at work and luckily had booked Friday off work as spent the day on the sofa feeling a bit sorry for myself because they knocked me out. The same happened last time I had both of them at the same time so I was prepared! Saturday we had a busy day out doing various little jobs and started our Christmas shopping 😂 Then had the day with my parents yesterday and we went out for lunch (I may have had a rather lovely sticky toffee pudding) and ended up with my mum's version of a TGTG bag - they have oddbox and sometimes get things they don't like so ended up with a couple of pak choi's, pomegranates and 4 avocado's.
Somehow managed a STS this week (I definitely haven't been on plan that much) so back to it this week. Breakfast was scrambled egg, avocado and toasted pitta, lunch is the last of my veggie soup and then dinner is beef, pak choi and broccoli in a hoisin sauce with rice.

I was sent a link to book my flu jab whilst I was away walking. By the time I had decent wifi the link had expired (48 hrs) - will now need to ring the line of doom at the GP to get booked in grrrr.
Will be sending DD a 'cheer up' box of goodies this week, so will pop out at lunchtime to buy some bits. Every little helps.
DS1 is currently a site manager for a new homes builder but has been offered a quantity surveyor post in the office. He will lose the company van, and will need to pay fares from Maidstone to London c. £6k. He is going to negotiate an uplift to cover the cost. This is the lad who scraped into grammar school having missed the 11+ by one mark, messed around for 5 years (only went to school for the craic) leaving at 16 with 2 GCSE's in Maths and English. He went to FE college to do a BTEC as wasn't allowed to do A levels, then did a labouring job for 18 months before joining his current firm. For 23 years old he's doing so well - he bought a house last year, is saving to get married and has a lovely fiancee and fur baby bulldog. I couldn't be prouder.
@joedenise I crawled along the old A2 from Canterbury to Chalkwell Road, cut down to the Stumble Inn then joined the A249 at Bobbing. Can you believe the Stockbury roundabout and bottom of Detling Hill were also reduced to single lane traffic and the M20 London-bound was 60mph restrictions all the way to Wrotham Hill. Could not make it up!

We had exactly the same problem @Coxy11 with the single lane traffic - it was single lane all the way along the A249 and round the Stockbury roundabout and down towards Maidstone but we needed to go up the M2 London bound so it was a right pain. We came back via the A20/M20 and much easier.

Lord I've missed vegetables! Only had two hot meals the whole time we were away - a steak pie with mash and veg, and a beef stew with mash and broccoli on the final night. I've just had tuna and crabstick salad with pickles - mmmmhmmmm lovely.

I felt exactly the same when we came back from France. We had meals in the van and apart from the stews it was only ever one veg - from a tin at that and I'm not actually that keen on tinned veg but when you only have a very small fridge you can't have loads of fresh veg so we only really had a bag of salad leaves and some tomatoes.
Eating out nothing ever came with veg apart from a few lettuce leaves on the side! And of course everything came with chips - even the stew!

@Coxy11 Sorry about your DD her BF didn't sound up too much, sadly we have all found a bad apple. Some of Mum and Dads TLC.
@maman - yep Aldi last week for the long stem broc....plus still finishing the figs. Love fresh figs. Don't go in to often, but will need to make the effort....went in for Quark, but couldn't find it.
@ruby_eskimo I am due my flu vac next Monday....even before covid never went to surgery - past experience shows it is a mad house, they have you snaking round carpark waiting your turn. Plus thought of two arms hurting 😒 Covid jabs this time round held every 2 weeks at surgery on a Wed morning, so due end month. Think it most likely the covid jab that has some effects. Hope you are over it now.
Two lines washing out today and all dry, at moment sun is out so they can stay out a wee while longer.
Tonight is left overs - have some ham joint and cabbage, so going to make mash and do bubble and squeak ala SW with nice egg on top. Just writing it makes me hungry......think another wander with doggy first.

What bread are you syncing @Vegastare? Most bread is 3 or 3.5 syns a slice.
Have decided to have a few syns and using up the last of the red wine from the weekend so 12.5 syns to add!

Using up red wine @joedenise 😉😇
I feel for your DD @Coxy11. The timing is particularly awful. I'm sure your box of goodies will help.
I have my Covid jab tomorrow. DH had a text from GP a couple of weeks ago and made an appointment for tomorrow. but they seemed to have forgotten about me. He mentioned it when he was in the surgery earlier, so they've fitted me in too. It's not a day I would have chosen but 🤞🏼 I don't get much of a reaction.
I remember talking to a restauranteur in France some years ago @joedenise who said that French people traditionally think having vegetables is a sort of 'poor relation' way of eating so they don't expect it when eating out. It's for eating at home when stretching the budget like in pot au feu. I think that's probably outdated now and they just serve up chips with everything, just like here, as it's cheap and easy with no waste although preCovid, green beans were quite common.
I love bubble & squeak @Vegastare. I have it at least a couple of days a week for lunch (like today😋) although mine is often more of a hash unless I have LO mashed potato.
Today's EE plan-
B- HEB toast, 2 fried eggs (P), mushrooms (S)
L- ham (P), fried potatoes and veg (F, S), beetroot (S)
D- baked salmon (P), SW chips (F), carrots chips, TS broccoli, asparagus, roast tomatoes, mushroom (S)
Syns- 01 -
@joedenise the bread is Tesco Dark Rye and sunflower and is 114 cals a slice so think it is around 5 to 6 syns. As for the wine not a drop has touched my lips since Saturday night when I had Friday nights glass and Saturday nights glass😁
I am working it out right !, if I am not sure I think one syn is around 20 cals .
Think I over did it with the bubble and squeak, made 3 patties and have left one for tomorrow - must admit was rather a nice change, DH is way with work and not the sort of thing he would go for. Will certainly do again @maman
Well signing off my New Zealand wacky mystery starts a 8pm, so that's me with a nice cuppa tea......and no wine!!!0
