Good morning everyone.  Well done on the loss @Vegastare.

Recipes tried this week - hash brown pizza, mushroom and spinach cannelloni and ham and potato cakes.  All really nice but the pizza was a bit of a faff.  We don’t eat much red meat and I don’t really like spicy food.  We also tried the Aldi onion and rosemary sausages. I think they are much nicer than the LM ones.  They are more sausage texture.  I find the LM ones a bit cardboardy.

Have received our membership for the Company Shop.  Is it best to go first thing in the morning? We will have to go at the weekend now as back to work on Monday.  Roll on half term 😂

    B - yogurt and fruit
L- jacket potato and baked beans with sausages with salad
D - tuna pasta followed by frozen yogurt with strawberries. Determined to get the yogurt to work tonight.
HEA - cheese with the pasta
    HEB - hi fi bars
syns - 5.5 for beans and sausages. 1.5 for frozen yogurt. Packet of crisps - 5.5

    Morning (just),

In the office today - one of only 3 people on the floor so at least 35 desks empty. No wonder the CS gets a bad rep, it's like the Marie Celeste here. I have today and Monday on this project then back to my perm role. I've learnt a lot in the 3 weeks and it will be interesting to see what shape the work takes when the new cabinet is in place. I'm speaking to the lady from Mind next week with a view to have day release with her from w/c 12 Sept - it's all go!

    Food today:
B - overnight oats, frozen cherries, mullerlight toffee - HEB, 0.5
L - roasted bns, carrot and celery with cheese, melon and grapes - S, HEA
D - SW Chinese sweet and sour pork with noodles - 0.5
    HEA - milk
Syns - hi fi bar plus 1, so 4 total

    Have a good day all.

Well done on the loss @Vegastare    ooohh thanks for the potato cakes reminder @room512 will add them to the plan for next week!

Change of plan for dinner last night - DS went out with friends and I wasn't very hungry so ended up just having a bowl of soup.

My nearest Company Shop is quite a trek away so it will probably be Christmas before I get there again as I will combine it with a visit to the large shopping centre and Ikea close by

    Today's food:
B - bran flakes (HEXB), f/f yoghurt, raspberries
L - baked potato with beans, side salad
D - steak, h/m chips, onions, tomatoes, mushrooms

Hope everyone is having a good day!

@room512 you actually found the sausages in Aldi - went in another one yesterday and they didn't have them either....past experience of shortages in Aldi usually mean someone mentioned them in SW class and they have been raided!

Wish we had a company store close by nearest one miles away, looked at the joining requirements and yep I could join.  Will have to make do with my Iceland 10% off. on Tuesday.  I am sure they clear the meat and poultry shelf on Tuesday morning, but if you go in about 6 pm they are full.

    B toast and mix fruit
    L  Omelette mushroom and toms
D  wrap with mixed salad and mixed peppers steak  and refried beans(thinks these are free)

HEA Milk  HEB toast and one W W wrap
Syns 6 or maybe 12 see below

Need to clarify is one wrap healthy option and a second 6 syns or what then Schwartz Fajita seasoning not sure what this is.

    Have a good day folks

One WW wrap is a B choice and the seasoning is 0.5 syn per tsp.  WW wrap white is 5.5 and wholemeal 6 syns. But you can only have one B choice a day before counting syns.

We must be lucky as our Aldi had loads of the sausages. They were just hard to find!  We were looking for a cardboard box but they were in a bag.

I think @bubbs  can probably advise best on timing for Company Shop. My branch is only a couple of miles away so it doesn't matter if stock is low. I was really lucky last week with salmon fillets and M&S liver but it's not always like that.

I don't have a problem with flexible working @Coxy11 and I don't think it's just the CS that choose Friday (and/or Monday) as a preferred day for WFH. Why wouldn't you want to start your weekend at 5 p.m. rather than face a commute? It irritates me that workers aren't trusted. Of course there will be skivers but they're everywhere, even in government. 🤣

How much of a shop can you do in Iceland @Vegastare? How do prices compare with Aldi?

Do you have a plan for lunches when you go back to work @room512? Will there be biscuits to tempt you?

DH enjoyed the meatballs for dinner last night but I thought the sauce was a bit sharp and tangy. I may have overdone the herbs a bit but also thinking I should have used passata rather than tinned tomatoes. How do others make pasta sauce? 🤔

Sorry for all the questions. I need a nosy emoji!

We're having Fake KFC tonight so I suppose I should be good and count some syns. Not sure how many though as I don't use a full recipe. I always make up a sachet  of mash and store the mixture in a jar. I find one egg is enough (4 smallish thighs) and start with about 6tbsps of mixture adding more if needed.
Homemade Healthy KFC Chicken - Basement Bakehouse

    Today's EE plan-
B- HEB toast, HEA milk for drinks, scrambled eggs (P)
L- JP (F), cottage cheese (P), spring onions, pickles (S)
D- Fake KFC (P), SW chips (F), carrot chips, green stuff, tomatoes and mushrooms (S)
    Syns- KFC 4? weekend wine

I too don't have an issue with flexible working @maman as it's served me well this past 2.5 years (OMG where did that go!) but do take exception to being told we need a critical mass in the office whilst on this project and only 2 of us turn up. Colleague is leaving shortly so it'll just be me. Means I can read some stuff on here with the big screen and leave early hopefully :)

There's no company shop near us either unfortunately  :( Will be looking for those A!di sausages IN A BAG!!! Thanks for the tip!!

@maman re Iceland...  I have only been a pop in now and then shopper.  Today I have a Tesco order(most Fridays) and this week has seen me go in two Aldi's.  I don't think they compare with Aldi and TBH only recently started going in and get some fruit and chicken and SW hifi and couple things like SW chips - plus the other week the big steaks were reduced - they are same as Aldi's.  Plus I like their red shrimp and seabass.

Popping in Iceland on a Tuesday is easy as close to Sainsbury and DM only like certain bacon from there and their fresh bread and rolls.

Normally it's meat from the butcher and sadly only fresh fish is Morrisons and not as good as pre covid.  I could eat fish 7 days a week!!

Thanks @Vegastare. Like you, I could live on fish but it's so expensive per kg compared with most meats. ☹️ I have bought those bags of frozen fish from Iceland (or sometimes Farmfoods). They taste OK but they're odd offcuts so variable in quality.

I was lucky to get the rosemary sausages from Aldi today. 👍 I had to search through the many bags of veggie meatballs to find them though.

Shopping bill keeps creeping (or should that be galloping 🤔) up. Fortunately I only had to buy bacon today and some cold meat but even basics are getting expensive. I do try to add about £5 a week for the food bank. Today I stuck to cereal, long life milk, jam and honey as they're asking for food that doesn't need cooking. ☹️
