Morning all, a bit grey this morning but forecast to stay dry and be a bit warmer - I hope so.
Going to do some shopping this morning after I've cooked some chickpeas which are currently on the hob in the pressure cooker; once they've cooled down I'll be freezing in can sized portions. I've also kept some out to make falafels to snack on.
Today's plan:
B - kedgeree - P; S; F
L - toasted cheese sandwich - HEA2; HEB
D - gammon, potatoes, onions, carrots, green veg - P; S; F
HEA1 - milk
HEA2 - cheese
HEB - bread
Syns - none planned
Have a good day everyone.

Morning all. Thanks for starting the new thread @beanielou and glad to hear your dad had a better night's sleep @bubbs
Well turns out I do have another gum infection and will probably need another root canal. However my dentist was a little concerned as the tooth looks completely different to what it did on the last x-ray 4 months ago so RC may not work 😳 Wouldn't be so bad but it's a one of my canines so have no idea what is going to happen - she's going to talk to some specialists for a second opinion and we'll have a check up in 4 weeks to see what's happening and plan treatment. On the soft food again today so had some scrambled egg for breakfast with a slice of bread, lunch is probably going to be more soup and dinner is a mushroom risotto - all things I don't have to chew much 🤣

I hope the infection clears up soon @ruby_eskimo. Good choices of menu though considering you can only manage soft food. 👍🏼
Might you change your mind abut the outfit for the rugby do now that the new dress arrived @MrsRyan? Would you recommend the lamb shawarma? I noticed there are many chicken recipes online which are very SW friendly?

It'll be a relief to get some more vegetables @joedenise. I've got plenty of veg for sides but a bit short on salady stuff. I've scratched about and found just enough for an omelette for lunch and beetroot and other pickles are always a good standby . Tomatoes were in very short supply in Aldi at the weekend. I suppose we'll have to get used to shortages.🤔
I've put the casserole on to cook as the potatoes are so delicious when they've had a chance to marinade with the rosemary and thyme. I'll just thicken it on the hob before serving.
Today's EE plan-
B- HEB porridge, HEA m8ilk, banana (F), raspberries (S)
L- veggie omelette (P,S), ham (P), beetroot (S)
D- chicken casserole (P,S,F) with butter beans (P), cauli, cabbage and broccoli (S)
Syns- cornflour 11 -

Glad all well in the Bubbs household, no matter how bad he feels, he will always feel better in his own bed.
Well done Mrs R, good results all round.
Denise, falafel yum! That was my breakfast the very first morning I was in Egypt, together with fuul. Fell in love with it and
have to have it at least once while I am thereA smile costs little but creates much2 -
@Gettingtherequickly this is the falafel recipe I use but I make it SW friendly by leaving out the flour and then making small, slightly flattened balls, and baking for about 15 minutes: https://toriavey.com/toris-kitchen/falafel/
Sorry to hear you've got another gum infection. Hopefully the dentist can make a decision when you see them again in 4 weeks. Good choice of soft foods for today. You'll probably need lots of soft foods for the next few days. I ended up having to have a tooth extracted when I got a bad gum infection a few years ago, unfortunately it was the one next to my front tooth so is very visible when I smile so don't really smile much these days! Dentist suggested I had a screw in tooth but it would have to be done privately! I saw another dentist and he said it would be £2,500! Decided against it - if it had been about 1/3 of that I would have considered it but not at that price!

Thanks ladies, my other root canal was on one of my front bottom teeth @joedenise so I feel your pain - they thought I'd have to have that one out too but luckily the RC is holding right now. Not too sure about this one though 😒
Casserole sounds good @maman, may have to make something similar at the weekend.
Change of plan for lunch, wasn't really feeling soup but remembered I had some mince leftover in the fridge so "fried" that up with some grated carrot, courgette and finely chopped onion, aubergine and a pepper with some oyster sauce and finished with some fresh coriander and mint. Was very filling, made enough for lunches for the rest of the week and was something I can just swallow with minimal chewing 👍Emergency Fund - £8572.39 / £10,000 :: Mortgage OP 2025 - £LISA 24/25 - £3200 / £4000 :: NSD 2025 - 2 / 150 :: Books Read: 1 / 52 :: Decluttering - 4 / 1000Engaged 9th December 2010 :: Married 29th October 2015 :: Bought a House 13th January 20171 -
Hi everyone from a very wet Fort Augustus.Have caught up on the thread - loving the new title btw!
Dsis and I have walked from Inverness on the Great Glen Way over the last 3 days. We got the overnight bus from London to Glasgow on Friday, then a train to Inverness.Grotty BnB in Inverness (hairs in the bed?!) and really rude receptionist!Started walking on Sunday and did over 20 miles to Drumnadrochit. DSis had hypothermia when we arrived at the bunkhouse so just had a cup of tea and slept. I slept in my clothes as the room was so cold!
Yesterday we walked from Drumnadrochit to Invermoriston. Slightly shorter 15 miles and absolutely gorgeous self catered studio. Nothing too much trouble for our hosts.
Today was a short 9 miles from Invermoriston to Fort Augustus. It’s been heavy rain all day. Had a lovely pub lunch and now at a great BnB.
Tomorrow we are following the canal down to South Laggan, another 14 miles.I don’t mind the rain but would like less of it!
Food has been whatever we can get en route - packet sarnies, some fruit, had fresh pasta and tomato sauce for tea last night. Had a pub lunch today as the rain has been relentless. I’m not too worried as feel the body magic will negate all the calories consumed! Will update again in a few days. Good job we’re not made of sugar 🤣CoxyCross-stitch WIP: Fiver Friday challenge 2025 founding member 😊 Read 25 books in 2025 11/25 Currently reading The Cliff House by Amanda Jennings2 -

Thank you for the new thread beanielou. I have now completely caught up on the old thread and have started reading along with a notebook alongside to write down recipes and tips. Thank you all.
I had to cancel my debit card yesterday to stop the scammer so have left myself with very little cash until my new card comes through. This means I must be more MSE and use what I have in stock and freezer this week. Luckily had bought in a load of fresh veg and fruit after joining on Saturday.
So plan this evening to try and meal plan. I noticed you all seem to do this each week so I presume it is helpful.2
