Have discovered the scotch eggs I buy from Sainsburys are 18 syns each!!
    Had two today.
No loss for me this week then!
You are supposed to check BEFORE you eat them 😂 could you make your own?
    Doubtful :l:lol:
You could even try making them like I do with the vegetarian sausages (I'm going to make some with the Aldi ones I bought yesterday).  I don't even bother egging and bread crumbing them.  Just bake with the sausages squashed round them.  They're a bit of a faff but so tasty!

Really need to water the garden today as we didn't get the forecast rain yesterday and no sign of any today!

Still need to do a proper menu plan for the next few days until I go to the next town on Tuesday where the Food Warehouse is so I can get some freezer stuff with the 10% discount for over 60s!  Will definitely be getting some lamb shanks as they make a great weekend dinner instead of a roast - and done in the microwave so moneysaving too.  They're cheaper to buy ready cooked than to buy fresh from butchers and cook yourself!

    Today's plan:

    B - overnight oats - HEB; S; F
    L - gammon salad using home cooked gammon from freezer - P; S; F
    D - fish pasta bake; salad - P; S; F; 3.5

    HEA - milk
    HEB - oats
Syns - cheese sauce mix 3.5

    Have a great day everyone.

Morning all!  Thanks for the tip on the lamb shanks @joedenise, will have to go see if there are any in our local store (it can be a bit hit and miss!)

Goat a busy work day ahead so glad I prepped lunch ahead of time this week.  Had ff yogurt and blueberries for breakfast, lunch is greek salad and dinner is who knows as we're going to a friend's house; think they mentioned cheese and wine and that may have been about it 😂

Right back to work, hope you all have a good day!

Morning, an early check in for a change.  Dinners this week have not  been brilliant!  Went to use chicken for curry last night and it was off!  Wish I'd kept the receipt as I only bought it on Saturday and was still within date too.  Ended up with lasagne from the freezer DS1 made for me as a treat before he left :) not strictly SW friendly as it's loaded with cheese but guessing 7 syns - had a huge salad with it to balance the plate  B)

    Today's food:
    B - 45g bran flakes, f/f yoghurt, raspberries
L - veggie omelette with pickles
D - still to decide but possibly just a fry up as there's loads of bit and pieces to use up

    Have a good day all!

I know @bubbs! At least I'm on a limitless plan with Ode0n so can rebook for another time! Your poor Mum xx

Oh no @beanielou - fingers crossed they don't do any damage. I just never fancy a scotch egg! Think it's the reminder of soggy picnics in the 70s!

Had to drop DS2 at school for 8.45am for his last A level. I haven't done the school run in years as all of mine went out of area and we paid for a private coach. Dropped him around 8.15am and came home via H0mebase to get some paint for the spare room - didn't open until 9am! so I left it and decided to get some fuel as going to see DD in Brighton this weekend. First garage had queues into the road (dangerous!) and the second was closed! Honestly - going to be one of those days I think!

    Food today:
    B - pineapple and strawberries - some S
    L - JP, peppered mackerel, salad leaves, tomatoes, pickles - 2, S
D - not sure yet - don't know if DS2 and GF are eating here or not. If not, I will have LO spag bol.
    HEA - milk
    HEA - mini babybel
    HEB - hi fi bar
    Syns - 2

Had to break off typing to go looking for what I can have for lunch. Found a solitary JP in the freezer along with a portion of mackerel that I'd frozen a couple of weeks ago. Trying to eat out of freezer and cupboards a much as possible this weekend whilst DH is away. I don't mind odd combinations!

    Have a good day all,

Dad's laser treatment went well and he said he can already see better :D

As luck would have it the surgery rang me today asking if i was Mum, i said no but i am her daughter and asked who it was, she said ok i will ring the house number.
I said while you are here Mum was at breaking point last night , she asked why i said with dad not sleeping although he has 2 sleeping tablets, whacking her in the night, obviously not on purpose, also she is getting no help anywhere, i also said the surgery had rang her a few weeks ago about a carer's day where they can go and she can talk to others. She said that's what i am ringing about .
Spoke to Mum and she said she had rang and asked if they needed any aids like walkers etc she said no as we have sorted that all ourselves, asked her if they claim anything, Attendance allowance, went through everything else and no can't claim anything!
    So no further really 🙄

Glad DDad's laser treatment went okay @bubbs but not impressed that your poor DMum can't get any help. It's just so unfair. The system needs a complete overhaul. Also @beanielou - that doesn't seem right at all that you have to pay for physio. I have no words of wisdom, but am sending empathetic thoughts and hugs xx

Yes end of an era @beanielou - next time we go to that school will be results day but not even thinking about that yet. DD rang in a panic at 10pm - last day for student finance and she hadn't submitted a claim! DH is in Italy with sporadic wifi - I've done my bit but he needs to confirm he will support her too. Hopefully if he does that today she will get her loan on time - kids!

In true to form self-sabotage style, I munched my way through a bar of Cadbury$ yesterday. No reason - I wasn't unhappy or stressed, just fancied it. The scales will tell me today what damage that has done. I have been for another run this morning though, so that's 3 times this week at 3km. Doesn't usually show on the scales, but it does lift my mood and keep the anxiety at bay, so all good.

    Food today:
B - overnight oats, FF yog with sweetener, frozen cherries - HEB
    L - cheese omelette, salad leaves, tomatoes, pickles - HEA, P, S
D - LM chorizo and red pepper sausages 2, carrots, broccoli, green beans - 2, S
    HEA - milk
Syns - 2 plus hi fi bar 3 so 5 total

Just me for dinner tonight as DS2 is working. I am getting my hair cut then will be decorating the spare room today. Hopefully I will break the back of it and finish off during the week.

    Have a good day everyone

Morning all, can only echo what @Coxy11 has written @bubbs and @beanielou.

I'm really pleased that I am managing to stick to plan since being back from holiday unexpectedly - and mainly using stuff from the freezer!  Have done my menu plan up to the end of July but need to do some more shopping next week in order to make everything.  I want to get the bulk of it then so over the month I only need to buy fruit, veg, eggs etc.

I bought enough sausages plus some chops and duck breasts at the butchers the other day so won't need to visit there again this month!  That's always a good thing because DH always spots something that he fancies - which is why we'll be having duck breasts some time this month!

    Today's plan:

    B - fry up - bacon, sausage, egg, mushrooms, tomatoes, baked beans - P; S; F; 1
    L - LO pasta bake - P; S; F; 2
D - lamb neck casserole (from freezer), mash, green beans and peas - P; S; F

    HEA - milk
    HEB - none planned
Syns - LF sausage 1; 1/4 pack cheese sauce mix 2; will probably have a couple of rum and ginger beer tonight 5

    Have a good day everyone.
