Re the mice. We were a bit bothered in the autumn with mice in the garage. We bought run through units which contain poison (which makes it safer for pets, children etc ) and put them down over the course of a month. You can tuck them into corners out the way but I am sure the wee beggars will be attracted there. We found loads of bodies in the garage so think the poison worked but I seem to remember it was pricey. We bought it at the garden centre along the road from here.

Thanks GB.
Lickily I don't have any pets, and the girls are old enough not to touch the poison I have down. I've got traps down too and have caught some mice in the traps and some just lying on the floor.
I'm worried that some mice may die from the poison where I can't see them, then we may get a rotting smell in the house:eek:
I really hate the things.
We have 10 houses on the row and I know a couple of the neighbours also have them, but don't know where they are nesting.
We don't leave any food out so I don't know why we have them here.
I've considered the plug in sonic things, but have heard 50-50 whether they work or not, and whilst I'm happy to buy them if they work, I don't want to waste money if they don't.

Yes, the sonic things are pricey and I am not sure if they are worth the money. I know folk who have bought the outside ones to deter cats and they are not too effective. If no pets and children old enough to understand, just keep on with what you are doing! Even the cleanest house I think attracts these pests! They just like to think they are warm and dry and they do multiply copiously.

Evening all
Sorry to hear about your mice problem Pipkin.
We had a quieter day at school today, no ambulances, but we have had the Dad of the boy with crushed hand injuries in shouting at us all. We have tried to explain that is was an accident, but Dad is insisting that it wasn't. This is the 2nd time we've had to call an ambulance for this boy, last time a group of them had bunked off a lesson & were throwing themselves down a muddy slope in the school grounds when he slipped & hurt his back, he was adamant that he was paralysed so we called an ambulance. Once his parents arrived and saw how muddy he was, he told then he'd been on his way to a lesson & been thrown down the slope, so no wonder his Dad is furious as he thinks people are picking on his son.
Still only 3 more days & hopefully the kids will be less hyper after Christmas is over.
I got chatting to another staff member today, who also takes in lodgers, I asked her how much she charges as I was beginning to wonder if I was over charging he lodger, but she charges same as me, but she doesn't include food.
Hugs Hester

Hi all, just popped in while I have a cuppa
I completely forgot, me and mr tru promised friends we'd go to an old people's home and sing carols  We raced in from the shops, threw the food in the fridge and ran back out the door, got greeted by stoney-faced residents (well most of 'em were) and thought 'WHAT are we doing here?' But you should have heard them once they started singing, it was amazing :T One of them recited a Christmas poem she'd written herself, it was quite long but she'd memorised it :T
I bought 100% un-OS today - went to M&S and bought christmas-stylee washing up liquid, handwash, hand lotion, room spray and tissuesThen in Morrisons, I bought 4 gel spicy berry air fresheners. Wish you could smell my house right now

My local librarian saves all the discarded magazines for me - totally OS/MSE!:D
Anyway, yesterday, in June's BBC wildlife magazine [p33], I read the following:
When they're trying to impress the girls, boy rodents do have to rely on size. Female rodents are so promiscuous that big penises and testes are the only way for males to make themselves stand out amongst stiff competition.
:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
Not only do I have randy female mice but probably well endowed male ones that keep adding to my problem:D

Evening guys
I have had a really lovely day with Mum in London, drove up to Harrods parked right outside (round the back) and spent far too much money but hey it's only once a year and I enjoyed every minuite of it!!! We had lunch in there on the fifth floor a tasty chicken salad with olive bread and a diet coke, mum had a glass of wine which she said it was the best wine she had tasted in years so I asked the waiter what it was called an it's 'Gavi di gavi' or something like that it's italian anyway, I then went a bought a bottle in there for her £16.95!!!!!!!! Oh well she like it and she can have some christmas day as she is flying off boxing day for 4 months to Oz Hong Kong NZ Bali....you name it..... I then found a Versace shirt for OH and I am cringing as I type this £149!!!!!!!!!! not a very OS day at all was it! I bought some other bit's a pieces too, the food hall looked divine today I could have spent all day in there alone! anyway I had a good day and it has cherred me up no end!
AUSSIE - Sis is doing fine thanks, mum flies over on boxing day...well she is going to Honk Kong first the arrives in Perth on new years eve.
RedRuby - I am up the road near Barnham we are that close if you shout I might hear you!
I hope everyone has had a good day, take care x0 -
Good Evening All
redruby - thanks, I spent half the vouchers on treats (food/nibbles that I wouldnt normally buy) and the rest on a new bra! I could not believe how expensive it is in there! I was picking things up saying, ooh no - its cheaper in such a such place! or, so & so has BOGOF! etc.... The chap who served up at the till was from Germany and called Claus. I asked if his 1st name was Santa! :rotfl: Dont think it went down too well.
Work was horrid/morbid atmosphere (which was expected). Im still upset that I wasn't allowed to have gone to the funeral. But I nipped up to the crem afterwards, to see the few flowers which was there. Friends DH asked for donations towards a neuro charity!
Back from the outlet shopping centre about an hour ago. It wasn't as busy as I thought.
OH has just gone to deliver some Xmas presents for me. Whilst I stay here and try and sort the heating out. It wont work (and yes there is gas on the meter)
Bye for now
Love Emma xxx
