Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Thur 13th . This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning Amie399 and all that follow
I am up early too, Oh's alarm woke me and 4.45 so I got up and now on my second cuppa!
Today I am going to Harrods with my mum so I need to have a shower and get ready soon to go and pick her up, we will drive up there so I can have a look at the lights that are around too.
Nearly finished my shopping I just have a few bit's to get but nothing major. We bought a Wii the other day and my arms ache like mad playing boxing. good exercise I suppose.
Just been reading a mag and it was saying in there about cooking roast potatoes on christmas eve then just popping them back in the oven on christmas day??? does anyone else do this?
Have a good day everyone x0 -
Morning All!
I was awake at 4.45, but been doing jobs downstairs! :rotfl:
Spent yesterday with Mum. She seems brighter since she's decided to have the "peg" fitted. Gave her a bath yesterday, as a bath lift was delivered Weds. first one she's had for about four weeks. She's had to have showers, as she could get into the bath, but not out (no strength) so I'm sure that made her feel better. Daddy was able to go out to his regimental Christmas Dinner, which he really enjoyed, and needed.:T
Going to get my hair cut and highlighted today, about time too:rotfl:
I love this time of the day, soooooo quiet!
The shopping is finished, the cards are sent, and Tesco is booked for next week, so I can relax at last!:T
Have a great day all!
I Believe in saving money!!!:T

AMIE! You've been gone so long! So sorry you've been ill and had pc problems- what a PITA that must all have been. See your doctor if you feel really chesty in case you have an infection. I've been fine since my last cold but there have been a lot of bugs - colds, as well as upset tummies, on this thread. I think everyone should be feeling great for Christmas! Anyway, good to have you back!
CSARINA - I had a quick flick through yesterday's posts - the pictures of the dolls were lovely. They don't give me the creeps at all and I especially love the baby doll! I hope you can update us when you have finished them. I should find out if we have a dolls' hospital near us - I have still got my old 1950s Rosebud baby doll (with the moulded-on hair) but her arms are loose and she has the eyelashes missing on one eye! I shall look into getting that fixed after Christmas.
N9EAV - if you're still around, have the most fantastic time on holiday and Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!:xmastree: :xmassign:
Well, just a quick one from me now because I have to get DH up in a minute. I slept like a log last night :j conking out as soon as my head hit the pillow - it must have been the 'armful' of blood I gave away yesterday!
We installed the TV that DS2 has given us last night - to replace ours that decided to show everything in a shade of 'alien green' - much easier on the eyes. It's a wide screen so that will take a bit of getting used to. I don't like big TVs - I don't think I'll ever want one of those huge wall-mounted ones like DS2 has got! Anyway, it's good to get proper colour back!
Well, I'd better go - I have a really busy day today - banking, getting DH's Contractor's Monthly Return off to the Inland Rev (or HMRC as the Government have helpfully renamed it, with all the extra printing costs that that entailed:mad:  ), shopping, wrapping up, last few Christmas cards posted and getting the decorations out ready for putting up the tree tomorrow. And that's without all the housew**k!
Will pop in later. Have a great day everyone!

Edited to say HILSTEP - so glad your Mum is feeling better now that she has the 'peg' - (((hugs))) to her and to you - you must be a great help to her.
MRS MIX - what a long wait for the sofa! You're being very patient!KNIT YOUR SQUARE TOTALS:

Morning everyone :santa2:
Nice to see you back Amie
I'm glad your mum is feeling brighter Hilllstep.
Ageandjo....I haven't done that with the spuds but I do the rest of my veg the night before and just heat them through the next day.
Tru....That's great news about the bonus. At times like this I wish my OH wasn't self employed.
Nels...Enjoy your Doughnut meet today and say hello to everyone from me. I expect an invasion to Glasgow when KK opens there next.
Early start this morning due to me conking out on the sofa last night.I've managed to get a few quiet jobs this morning so I am ahead for the day.
I have to help OH in the office again today. He is teaching me some really tricky stuff that just won't go into my brain easily but I'm getting there.
Had to help the girls write 70 cards for school yesterday. Ridiculous I'm afraid but what can you do?
I'm going to put a list of what I need to do on here so I see it every time I log in.
Daily Housework (mostly done)
Post cards
Post parcel to Ireland
Shop for weekend
Make tomato soup for tonight
2 loads of washing
make batch of coconut bombs
Make batch of fudge
make cranberry confit.
Make mince pies
Work is really going to get in the way today.
If I get all that done I have only peppermint creams and truffles to do next week to complete my presents.(I'm doing 3 HM hampers of jam, chutney, pickles, lemon curd and mince pies and 4 Kilner jars of HM sweets.)
The girls have birthday party on Saturday so OH will START his shopping then.
I might do the big Christmas food shop today too as we run out of stuff early up here.
Better go and get my shower before the natives waken up.
Haribo x0 -
Morning... I am still about. Last day at work today and it will be a short one I hope. There are not many in the office today and so I am hoping it was a quiet night..
Got to get some fuel in the car later, pet food, and a whole load of stuff to get ready for the holiday.... all last minute. Seems that Travelex is a good way to get my $$$$ Order online today and pick them up at the airport. Best rates going so I can see, unless you know better?
Loads to do... It will be a mad rush and panic, but I am anticipating that.
I hav some friends from Perth Aussie land coming over tonight. It will be good to see them again as we grew up together. They are over for Christmas and so we will play catch up. They have turned Vegan, so it will be raw turnips all round Baldrick! :rotfl:
No really Sweetpotato and red pepper soup, fresh bread should do it.
Had a great curry last night, bottle of red wine and toasty fire in front of the TV and watched the free Scrooge DVD that came in the Mail last weekend. Nice way to spend an evening.
Well folks have a nice day..NO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!0 -
Ageandjo.... yes ive done this lots of times !!!!but i take them out of the oven just before they are fully cooked, so that they dont overcook the next day.slimmimg world weight loss 6lbs

Good morning everyone! Not been around for the last few days - got the confirmation of some bad news we were expecting on Tuesday, so not really been in the mood to chat.
As you may know, I'm a Money Adviser for CAB. As a charity, CAB has no central government funding, and we rely on short-term grants to run the service. The project which employs me and 3 of my colleagues has decided not to renew our funding, and with no further money in the pipeline, we'll go from a staff of 9 to one full time and one 18 hour/week post as of April. It's a disaster for our bureau, and a real blow for the people I work with. The only bright spot is that a friend and I would ideally like to share the 18 hours until something else is found, and I have a plan for some more training that I'd like to do.
On a more positive note, our choir had its Christmas concert last night, and it was wonderful, though I ate too many mince pies _pale_ _pale_ My friend is going to a wedding party of a friend of hers, and she's invited me to accompany her. It's a ceilidh in the Yorkshire Dales (she's booked a B&B overnight) so I'd be delighted to go :j :T
We're off to see the inlaws for the weekend, so planning to be looked after and get some rest and sleepDH and I will go for a long walk tomorrow.
Will be doing some housework today; pumpkin soup for lunch, and probably fish for tea
Have a great day, Penny. x:rudolf: Sheep, pigs, hens and bees on our Teesdale smallholding :rudolf:0 -
Morning All
I'm off to work in a sec, heaven knows what today will bring. As for the boy who was trying to be intimidating, all I kept thinking was that if he behaved the same way outside school, he could end up badly injured, what if he picked on a little guy who carried a knife? I swaer so many of the kids don't understand the consequenses of their actions & he's not a particulary bad kid, just daft.
I did a very good impression of the Vicar of Dibley yesterday, Christmas lunch at school & then another last night at W.I.
Hope everyone has a good day.
Hugs Hester
