Hi everyone will post most later. Just got to the end of reading page 1, and thought I'd add my pennyworth on the currency front. I put money into my Nationwide Flex account, and used my card to get cash out in Spain and even though the Euro was well down, got a lot better than I saw it advertised elsewhere, plus didn't have to carry it with me.

    Hope that helps.

Where ever we go I load my Nationwide flex account card and draw cash when I need it, you get a much better rate because you get the rate of the day, it can vary from day to day............no charges either for soending your money and because it is a Visa card you can also use it to pay for things.

Its years since I bought travellers cheques or currency when going abroad, the first place I head for is the cash machine when we get to where we are going, occasionally, I will get say £20 of currency for emergencies when we get to our destination, but as I usually I manage to bring money home, I have enough in hand for train or taxi fares etc.............

Hi - just taking a break from doing the business paperwork. I managed to get my food shopping done - it came to £65 but I had a £6 off voucher then, when I paid, I was given another voucher for £6 off next week. I wish they would do it all the time! Anyway, every little bit helps. I did all the banking without any queuing. The only queuing was for the car parks - they are jam-packed at the moment. I'm really glad I don't do any big town shopping; I went off that years ago because I can't stand all the crowds and waiting for ages at tills. Life's too short in my opinion.

TIREDMUM - Your poor neighbours; what a dreadful shock. I never take my keys or purse upstairs at night but I will from now on.

I hope everyone's nativities have gone well - I bet there were some tears.

    Anyway, off to cook dinner.

pipkin, hope you manage to catch (or kill!) all your little lodgers soon. Think you must have had an entire family move in:eek:

    I hope so too Churchmouse.

I've just gone to put dinner on and one of the little  was sitting on top of the washing machine

We've got 3 floors, and most of the poison has been taken from the upstairs bathroom [third floor], but I've caught or spotted them on every floor. I've no idea where they are coming from but I am starting to feel really down about it.:(

  • Can you contact the local authority and see if their pest control department can sort them out ? Not sure if there would be a charge though

    Hi charlies_mum

Because it's mice, they just give you poison, which I have put down. It would be different if it were rats[ ], but nothing else they would do for mice, I've already phoned them.

    Hi there

Well it was the office Team Lunch today (30 of us in total). We are a wee outreach office (only 5 of us) so it is always nice to socialise with the rest of our colleagues. A really lovely meal and I think everyone enjoyed it. My colleague drove me along and dropped me at the road end an hour ago so I could have a wee drink. Before you lot jump to the wrong conclusion, only one G+T and one glass of Red Wine. Very pricey at the bar but in any case I am having the boys tomorrow so caution on my part.

Have just sat down and finished writing the posting cards which will go off tomorrow. Have posted the boys' letter from 'Santa'. Have to get the travel cot up, dig out the bottles and cook some butternut squash for DH3. Tomorrow is his day for a new taste and I have drawn the short straw. Just hope he take the bottle better than he did a couple of weeks ago - will make sure it is a bit warmer this time. Two boys are coming over on antibiotics but both not poorly enough to stay at home. DD desperately needing the break as still a bit post natal depression.

It is lovely to see some 'old faces' posting again and we still seem to be attracting new friends which is lovely.

PenPin - so sorry to hear that the funding is being cut for this such worthwhile service.

TiredMum - sorry to hear about your neighbours. I presume you now feel no-one did actually enter your house. A wee bit scary if OH on nights.

Holiday wishes to those about to fly off on holiday, hope all the rest of you are fine. Will try and pop in later to see what the gossip is!

    Love
