I'd wait until your switch is actually complete, but otherwise once the bonus has been paid there is no obligation to keep the account open. Feel free to downgrade/ switch away at your leisure.

It's worth at least £60/year though, so I'd have a think about if you'd actually want to keep the account.

I started my switch on Monday 4th April.  Earliest date was Wednesday 13th, however I received the £125 yesterday - on the 7th.

When I started to try to switch online it was showing a much earlier switch date. Not critical- as long as £125 comes my way!!

Just tried to apply for the switch process online but get an error.
I'm switching from a new TSB account with an expiry date in 2027 and it comes up as an invalid date. Seems too far ahead for Halifax as entering 2026 works but that is not the correct information.

Hopefully they can sort it over the phone tomorrow.

My switch date is tomorrow. I'm expecting to receive the £125 as my switch was started before 9 May in accordance with the T&Cs, but it hasn't been paid yet. Normally I wouldn't be concerned not having received the payment before the switch has actually taken place, but plenty of PP on this thread say that they were paid before the switch date and I haven't been yet. Should I be concerned?

There may be a whole slew of reasons why the pay-out hasn't happened yet- maybe they were inundated at the last moment!
I was switching into a long established account so maybe that's why my arrived early.
Personally I would sit tight, wait for the switch to go through and then contact them if the incentive has not arrived.
 

I see the blurb says "Switch & get £125 in 10 days" so maybe you need to wait for a few days after the switch before chasing them up

I was just about to come on here and ask about when the incentive was paid.  When I did the Lloyds switch it was paid within about 3 or 4 days of the account opening so I thought it would be the same in this case but it's been nearly week and it's not appeared yet. Of course I'll wait until after the switch has actually happened and the stated time frames up before i flag anything up with them though.
