Just a reminder for those wondering if they received a reward since April 2020 to check your closed accounts within your credit report - It may highlight a closed Halifax acc on which you've received a previous reward

Can anyone comment when they last ran one of these?

Memory is hazy but i THINK it was something like £125 up front and then £50 after 6 months or 12 months or whatever if that jogs anyones memory?

I took advantage of it and i THINK it was before April 2020 but not 100% sure. If so then I can go ahead with this again.
Well nobody has answered this but in case anyone else took advantage of the offer I mention above & also can't remember when it was

I've just got off the phone to them and my switch completed January 2019.

I do remember that I didn't bag the switch early after it was released so anyway, if you took advantage of it also & like me can't remember when it was then you should be good to go with this one.
To be fair myth123 did answer it, albeit indirectly, immediately after your post, saying they had a Halifax incentive in August 2020.  Which tells us that a switch offer was in place then.

Just checked my Rewards account and I'm the same - incentive given in August 2020 so I don't qualify this time round (and possibly neither do lots of others, so they may not be 'good to go')..
Are you sure they answered it? I read their post and it seems like they didn't. Not that it matters now because i've been on the phone & got the answer myself.

I specifically said the offer at the time was along the lines of £125 up front with an additional £50 some time afterwards to total out £175.

They mentioned their switch deal was £100 which clearly was NOT the same deal as I was on & therefore did not help me at all pinpoint when my switch may have been.
Well, to repeat myself, to be fair, they did answer the basic question, which was 'can anyone remember when they last ran one of these?'.  The answer was summer 2020.

If you were specifically wanting to know about your switch, no-one can answer that other than you - or the Halifax, who you subsequently asked.

As for you specifically specifying the incentive amount for the switch you wanted to know about, you specifically didn't. You said your memory was 'hazy' and you 'think' it was £125. The answer of £100 in summer 2020 was actually a direct (but not worded as such) - and perfectly valid - answer to your hazy question!
Then we're going to have to agree to disagree i'm afraid.

I would argue that anyone with half an ounce would take that I am talking about the £125 deal. Yes i said my memory is hazy but I specifically stated that the offer was a 2 part split which should've rang bells with anyone who took advantage of that.

To talk about it being £100 up front a 1 amount hit should be obviously (I would say) not the one I was referring to.

So as we're not going to agree at all on this, we'll have to just agree that we'll get on with our day instead.

I received £125 in Nov 2021, so it will take ages until I'm eligible again.

They are offering £5 a month as a bonus if you spend £500 with your debit card as well.
That works out at 1% so same as Chase and pointless for everyday spending.
But perhaps if you used it to fund a share dealing account or similar (Chase doesn't give cashback on this), it could be a further free £60 a year.
Well they've been offering that for some time, it's not new or part of the switch offer and so is available to all regardless of the switch offer.

Your comment about it being 1% cashback on the £500 spend is missing the point that you don't need to 'lose' the £500 monthly if you pay £500 by debit card into a savings account or similar of your own and simply recycle it back to Halifax later each month.  Discussed in many previous threads about the Halifax rewards account. Which makes it 12% (though only on £500, obviously).
Hello, I’m really sorry as I expect this is a stupid question - but how do I do a debit card transfer to a savings account?

This is the only part of the criteria I would still need to fill, but I do all my transfers to my other banks/savings online, so have never transferred money by debit card - do you have to ring up to do that?

Edited to add - I actually pay my Tesco credit card by debit card but I see that is showing on my Halifax account as a FPO (faster payment) - as the debit card number is saved on Tesco and I just go in each month and add my three digit code to authorise the transaction, is that still a debit card payment or is it viewed differently for the Halifax criteria?

Again sorry if this is another stupid question - I’m inexperienced in these things!

So sorry - I’ve found the threads to which you’ve referred previously poster, so I’m going to see if I can work it out! 😊

I pay my Tesco Bank credit card each month using a Halifax debit card. It doesn't show as a Faster Payment on my account though, it's categorised as "Financial Institutions - Merchandises and Services" (which clearly relates to whichever MCC Tesco Bank use to process the debit card charge).

Are you sure you're not using the 'pay using your bank account' option in the Tesco Bank app? That definitely won't count if so.

Thank you for replying. My Tesco credit card bill was due today so I’ve just made sure I’ve selected the pay by debit card option.  I’m now not sure which one I’ve selected in the past as it wouldn’t of mattered until this reward account!

Just waiting for it to show through now on my Halifax statement, to see if it goes through as a FPO or a debit card.  Fingers crossed it counts as a debit card payment, as otherwise I don’t think I can open one of these accounts as it will be too hard for me to manage.

I did look through the other thread about savings accounts and sadly I don’t have any of the ones mentioned. I did have a quick look at YBS (one of the recommended ones from the thread a couple of years back) but I couldn’t see that they still accept debit card payments and so there is no point me opening a savings account that I don’t really want & then finding it won’t take debit card payments! 😂

    thanks again for replying 👍

If you had to submit your Halifax debit card details and the cvv to pay yr Tesco credit card, you'd probably have got a passcode texted to key in to authenticate and probably an acknowledgement from Tesco - and it will show in your pending payments(click on it) in your Halifax Reward account after a few mins.

I've just checked and I last received a switch offer from Halifax in 2016 and left them in 2019, so am eligible for the £125 offer.

Tempted to switch my Club Lloyds account back to Halifax now!

I logged into my existing halifax account and downloaded the last two years of transactions, no switch bonus in there & so my barclays is on it's way.

I had the 2 part switch deal and having (finally )found the paperwork see that it was June 2019 so now I have a choice!

Either the Barclays or the HSBC can go.
Decisions, decisions, however I won't wait 'til May.  Want to try First Direct too and then that will be derelict a/c s sorted, for the moment at least.
