To anyone that's switched/ing under this offer, should I expect any correspondence/update? I filled in the switch form online on Wednesday and got a confirmation on screen, but heard nothing else since. I expected perhaps an email or text to confirm it was received/being actioned, so now starting to wonder if it is actually going through...0

Ha, Just realised that HSBC a/c will have to go to Halifax.
Just read the First Direct t & cs (good thing I did!) as you can't switch an HSBC a/c to them, of course I realise they are the same 'family' so that's where Barclays might get to go if I can face all the aggro of getting documents countersigned. This is the home of 'old' technology so can't do anything fancy!!Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

If so then I can go ahead with this again.0

HSBC was opened Aug 2015, well before their deadline
however HSBC can go to Halifax asap.
Barclays can go to First Direct.
Simples! (Well, hopefully!)
HSBC was generous at start & with good RS rates
Barclays was good with Blue Rewards.
Both need to go....Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

Although I am surprised that anyone doing this has never had a first direct account.

Sorry, we can only offer this to people who haven’t previously held an account with us, and/or has not opened a HSBC current account on or after 1 January 2019. You may hold a HSBC account and still qualify for the offer, as long as the current account was opened before 1 January 2019.
But of course the word 'may' may be crucial!!Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

I opened a Halifax Reward account today and found it to be a pretty buggy process. I have a mortgage with Halifax, so went to apply for the Reward account via Online Banking. Got quite a way through and then got the "Something went wrong" error.
I then went onto the app and applied there, was successful and the account has been opened, however it didn't give me the option to complete a switch or apply for an overdraft. The application process appeared to end once I had selected my Reward Extra.
I managed to find the switch form seperately through Online Banking afterwards and completed that, but am having no luck with the overdraft. The application tool indicates I am likely to be accepted for one with a relatively high limit, but then I get a message saying they would need to speak to me first and I had to call.
Not as smooth as I was expecting.
Oddly they have given me a sort code for a branch in Leeds, when I live in Dorset. Doesn't matter of course, but I'm a bit geeky and notice these things!0 -

Tempted to switch my Club Lloyds account back to Halifax now!Ooh I can't bring myself to do that.24 free cinema tickets each year is too much to give up.This year I might actually have to pay to see some movies, there's that many on the list.0
