You can use the Chase app on some Android 8.0 phones. Once you download it, you will get the message it’s not compatible when you try to open the app to register. If you have an iPad iOS v14 and above, you can get the app on that and set up your account, pin etc. Then if you go to your Android 8 phone again and login with your details it should work and will deregister your iPad.pjmendip said:pjmendip said:masonic said:

There isn't a username. Are you using the UK app?pjmendip said:I'm struggling to register with Chase. App is dowloaded and working. I get stuck when they ask for a user name which uses numbers and letters and then the app appears to try and reconcile that with my bank account name, which it can't of course. Probably a simple explanation that I'm missing here. Apologies if this has already been covered a number of times. The one that came up through google play store - is there more than one and how can I tell them apart ?I did search using "Chase App UK" as the criteria.Ah, no the one I have installed has the same logo but just says Chase Mobile. I guess I've got the USA version. I'll uninstall it and try and find the UK one. Many thanks
Turns out that I need to upgrade my Android version if I want to run the Chase UK app. My phone is still on v8.0 which is not enough.3 -

I've just successfully download and set up the Chase app on my 2015 iPhone 6s (ancient in tech terms). I had to update the original iOS11 to the latest iOS15 and then I was good to go. Could you maybe buy an old / cheap iPhone 6s from Ebay or similar and install the Chase app via that route?
I'm just pleased that Apple are quite good at providing software updates to their older tech.

You may find you will need the card, I was paying using it via apple pay it was being rejected, popped card in machine and entered pin all good again.sebtomato said:
Strange. I open my account on Wednesday, took about 5 min for the ID to be checked. Transferred money from FD right away: took several screens to confirm, as account name couldn't be checked by FD. However, transaction went through right away.Bigwheels1111 said:I opened my account and it took 16 hours, they had just got 5000 new account requests.
Money from FD account took time and fraud check.
Savings account set up easy, payment set up easy and payments arrived in other account in 10 seconds.
I like how it set up card on Google pay, Amazon and Bymiles for car insurance.
Set up and confirmed via app was easy.
Will try with phone on next payment
I have transferred again since from FD to Chase, as since the payee is saved now, no additional screens to go through.
I have received the physical card today in a nice envelop. Card looks nice and is indeed numberless, but probably will never actually use, as I make all payments with my phone and never use cash (at least when in the UK).0 -
Hi masonic, thanks for the explanation. It would have been nice if the Chase call handlers were aware of this. As far as I can see my A10 also has the 32 bit OS loaded - no mention of _64 in kernal info. I had a quick look at the samsung site but I couldn't see where you would tell what OS they have loaded - even less so on the phone retailers sites. Ignoring the Chase app issue I'm disappointed to have bought tech that is likely to obolete soon, I understand that 32 bit chips will stop being made next year. More and more apps will only be 64 bit.masonic said:Samsung Galaxy A13 is runs 32-bit Android which is the problem (even though processor is 64-bit, it runs in 32-bit mode as the 32-bit OS has been loaded). The Chase App is 64-bit only. If you look online there are complaints about this phone not being able to run other 64-bit only apps. Whereas the A10 (at least some variants of it) run 64-bit Android. This is a general problem with device manufacturers and low end models of phone, where they do not specify they've loaded the 32-bit OS.I can understand why Chase dropped their list of compatible phones a couple of days ago. It seems multiple models are being released under the same version name, which means some models could be compatible and some not. This page could be helpful for those in search of a new 64-bit device: addictivetips.com/android/check-android-device-is-64-bit-or-32-bit/

As it's still within 14 days, you should be able to return the new phone should you wish to do so1 -

I'm just pleased that Apple are quite good at providing software updates to their older tech. It's a consequence of having a variety of companies manufacturing devices that run the operating system. Google devices are supported for OS updates in the same way as Apple for iOS, but come with a similar price tag. It's not in other manufacturers' interests to take on an ongoing support burden for their old devices. It is something that ought to change.
I was surprised any new devices were being released with 32-bit operating systems. It only seems to be a small number of low budget devices, but still hitting some quite popular models. I think Chase thought they had a solution with their list of compatible devices, but have recently found there are different flavours of the same device that are incompatible. It's a bit of a mess, and as you say, manufacturer information is vague, so it takes quite a bit of detective work to determine what architecture OS is going to be loaded on your phone when you receive it.Ian601256 said:

- Kernel information may be printed on the box if you get the chance to physically shop for your device
- There are some 3rd party sites that list more complete specs, but you need to make sure you are looking at exactly the right device model
- Best option is to ask the vendor and make your purchase conditional on 64-bit Android if you can, or buy a device already tested by someone else (earlier suggestion of a 2nd hand iPhone is a good option).

No, I don't need the card. Made several payments with Google Pay soon after opening the account, and they all worked fine.Catplan said:

That's why they load the virtual card strait away on your phone, as opposed to having to wait for the physical card.
I haven't used physical cards for payments for years now, I don't even carry them with me. Making all payments with my Samsung phone, and my Garmin watch is my backup.0 -
I've made dozens of contactless payments via Google Pay over several months, and many online payments using the virtual card details, and not once been required to use the physical card. I may one day encounter a retailer that doesn't support contactless or Google Pay specifically, which is when the card would be needed.

But you've not used your physical card? My Santander card required a PIN usage before allowing contactless & indeed for 'security ' reasons every so often I'm required to enter a PIN now.masonic said:I've made dozens of contactless payments via Google Pay over several months, and many online payments using the virtual card details, and not once been required to use the physical card.
