10 years to clear £334K - our FIRE journey

Mortgage - £298,723
Reduction of £1,263
Struck lucky with a couple of BT offers this month so BT a couple of cards which were due to expire in next two months. Didn't completely cover the balances so some still to cover / repay but it frees up one card which I might get a future offer on.
Now less than £3k in debt when comparing stoozed balances to savings - hopefully be back in the black in the next couple of months.4 -

£66 to OP target. Waiting for £4 from Vinted.
Week off work but one of my team passed away (expected but quicker than anticipated) at the weekend so have been logging on to deal with that. Doesn't feel like much of a proper break TBH.
However on the plus side:- off to lunch with the oldies today which I am really looking forward to
- went to NT garden with a friend yesterday
- saw another friend for lunch last Friday
- planning NT with OH on Friday
- got a day to myself for some batch cooking tomorrow and Saturday
- box full of cat water fountains being sent off to rescuer friend today / tomorrow
- have managed to condense two boxes of assorted carp in the living room down to one
- booked company to fit new front door and windows to utility (precursor to getting utility refurbed / downstairs loo turned into wet room)
- booked engineer to come and look at faulty oven

Thank you south_coast and Jessy103. I feel desperately sad for her family - she has teenage daughters.
Sun is out here for what feels like the first time during my time off. Need to clear the utility and tidy the kitchen before the engineer comes to look at the oven but then might try and spend some time in the garden today.4 -
My condolences on the team member loss. That's hard.
Hope that life is picking up for you.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

OP since October 2023: £1,001 = increased target hit!!
Cleared a BT card last month and they gave me a great money transfer offer this month which is stuffed into savings earning more than I paid in fees and will pay off the next two BTs by the end of the year.
Also got lucky with the HSBC card offer so getting 10% cashback to end of year but that is one of the BTs I need to clear to ensure I don't end up paying interest.
Work busy and stressful - recruiting to one vacant managers post at moment then need to work out what to do about colleague's post who passed away. I desperately need management support but it feels wrong to go out to recruit so quickly. Suspect changes are happening in organisation as CEO has just left with no notice so expecting a lot of upheaval soon.

Very well done on the OP! 🎉🥳😊
The BTs sound a bit complicated but that you are juggling them well 🤹♂️😊
Re recruitment of someone to replace deceased colleague - tbh, I would get sign off and start the process asap. If there are changes coming you might not get the role approved in a few months time and it does take a while to go through the recruitment process.KKAs at 15.09.25:
- When bought house £315,995 mortgage debt and end date at start = October 2039 - now £230,969
- OPs to mortgage = £12,270 Interest saved £5,816 to date
Fixed rate 3.85% ends October 2030
Read 51 books of target 52 in 2025, as @ 17th September

So sorry to hear about your colleague! I totally agree with KajiKita though, it makes sense to get that job ad up sooner rather than later.
And well done on those OPs2
