What is wombling?
In the words of Bobarella, the founder of the earlier wombling threads:
"Wombling is at its most basic level finding things. That you can use and someone else decided they couldn't. When I started this challenge in January of 2015, I used to Womble a lot of brand match coupons, these were just like finding money and I have no idea why people ever threw them away.
My initial idea was to try and find one thing each time I left the house that would make my life cheaper in some way. Roadkill (change found on the road, bus, self service till draw) is a great one for that. I find that I can usually find at least 1p per journey and although some people would say what's the point? Because I trained myself to look for coins as second nature I have found a lot of money over the years £ 84.20 in 2015, & £62.28 last year.
I often find useful big items left in the street outside people's houses with notes saying 'take me away' last year I even found a Hoover. I needed a new one so took it. This saves me quite a lot of money. My own wombling style is finder, but a lot of people Womble a lot of money by doing BOGOFFs. Or eBay buying.

YS shopping is worth a mention. If you are able to buy food with a huge mark down then that's a Womble.

Basically if you are able to make a saving in any way, including comping then that's a Womble. I don't have any strict rules for this challenge and quite often we just chat! So come on in and join the free fun."

For my job I worked at a stand at a fair to inform people about the subsidies they can get. I was given lunch and dinner on those days, and free drinks (tea! It was freezing in the hall, because they had to ventilate all the time due to covid). However, I won't count the free meals, as husband took dds to McD, and bought expensive ready-meals on the second day . He is a decent cook, and knew well in advance, but just couldn't be bothered.

Hi Peeps,
I'll jump onboard here if that is ok?
We both love to "Womble" especially when wood is free and even more so now with the nations being held hostage to utilities. We pride in road kill - pennies - yet never really added it up we just put it into a pot where we save the change then support a local business with bags of change for them. It became a way of life when supporting son in an expensive hobby which has taken us to many places, now grand-daughter is doing the same, so it continues.

Yes, everyone is welcome! As I'm rather lazy and limited for time, I won't keep a list

When I was a student I would keep all my wombles in a small pot, and it would be enough to get me a theatre ticket every 24 months!

There are many youngsters who literally throw copper change away, I know more money than sense some would say. I have learnt to curtsy to pickup change anywhere I find it.

Well had some good wombling in last couple of days. A donated wheelbarrow of lovely Ash wood ready chopped up for the wood burner from neighbour as he frequently borrows DH tools. Today collected about 1/3rd of van full of scrap wood from a friend. We have another lovely neighbour who needed some help in tidying up her garage and there were a few bottles of an expensive cordial that she was going to throw away, needless to say they came our way. I really do do OOD stuff and appreciate it being given to us.
