Round, I was watching a 1976 concert by John Denver on BBC Four late last night (it was my wind-down time). Oh, the shirts and the hairstyles! But the music was still fresh and joyful. I'm sure I saw that concert the first time round too: DD would have been either a bump or a newborn.
YL, don't despair, the Flylady bus trip is still only at the planning stage and has not been cancelled.
Fayolle, I threw in the towel years ago and never regretted it, even though I had to manage on very little income until I retired and married a potential millionaire who unfortunately never reached his potential in that area.
My good intentions and enthusiasm haven't taken me far today, as all my energy dissipated at about 11.00. Since my last post, I have only
- collected my prescription and bought a packet of gingernuts and a head of (reduced) broccoli
- done WMx2 more
- folded DH's bedding so that it fits on the radiators to finish airing and be ready to put back on the bed later
- put my feet up whilst studying the lifestyle of the Manchega pigs on Marcus Wareing's smallholding, compared to that of his human neighbours
- checked the inside of my eyelids for [ahem] a few minutes.
- filed a few more papers
- written an email about decluttering some music scores to the local choral society
- bleached the in-shower mat
- prepped and eaten lunch with DH; Rosie washed the almost-empty cream cheese pot thoroughly.
Food shopping chez MrA1 is postponed until tomorrow on my way home from church, saving petrol.
At least I can see the carpet in the study again! the trouble is, I can also see how much it needs hoovering...
Next, once I've finished my cuppa, will be Rosie's walk. It's quite breezy out there.

Kaz, that’s extreme flying, in my books 🤣.
Iona, your “only” achievements trump mine by miles…
I have pottered around, mainly in the greenhouse and garden. Some more (flower) seeds sown, green bin filled again, even though the binmen are on strike so it won’t get picked up. Houseplants watered / given stern talking to. HHP x2 done.Roast chicken dinner tonight as a treat. I might even make a lemon meringue pie as I have the ingredients. DH will be beside himself - meat and pud in one day!7 -
Fayolle.. I don't care what job OH does so long as he is happy and we can afford to buy food.. H has settled really well into this job.. it's weird and very unlike him as an occupation.. he hates using the phone but this is a headset so it is like talking to people on Discord or Ventrilo or Teamspeak and he is just helping them the same as he helps people in the online games he plays.. it is a famliar feeling and I while they want the time scales to be nothing and he spends too long talking to help people sort their problems than they are allowed he has very few call backs because he covers everything they need... now I'm waffling... I guess the bottom line is.. their happiness means more than the money.
Dot has had a fairly good day.. she got shoes from BAB for Harvey which she has wanted for ages and we kept saying when OH is paid.. and we got her some today.. Then Pixie saw a huge duck the same as hers so we had to buy him and Twinkle got a tiny monkey... Poor Squeak had a bit of an breakdown at swimming and then again in the car so she is having time out in the bedroom.
Shopping done for the week.. YS chicken for tomorrow, pig for during the week, will be done in the SC and chicken casserole planned... That should cover 4 days. ONly 3 days of pack ups to do.. pizzas Monday and Fish Fridays.. bliss!!
4 parcels posted and I am just going to put dinner in and will list a few more bits.. I will empty the 3 bags in the huge, heavy cardboard box.. that is my first goal. (everything else is neatly put in stacking boxes)

Towels / tea towels brought in and airing - they were dry but cold
Phoned posh phone cafe to reserve a table on Thursday for ladies who lunch
Texted a couple of friends

More reading now methinks.

Still catching up. Finished world's most complex student report yesterday; emailed it to manager for comment. Started another.
- Had a lovely lake swim today, dizzy heights of 8.5 degrees and saw 2 kingfishers and a woodpecker. Will admit to coffee and cake afterwards so not very slinky-making I fear.
Our brave man from the village has reached Poland with the van full of all our donations today. Hope he gets back safely.
- one load washing done and hung out (Mr N did it while I was swimming).
- read gas and electricity meters, put on line, had bill back. OK at present as we had a fixed rate until July.
- checked cc bill and paid.
- vague bits of tidying here and there, hardly enough to mention really.
- did some drum practice.
- Tidied out greenhouse as some overwintered plants can go out now. Started sowing seeds. The new patio is becoming more spring-like, we still have more plants to put in which came out of the bit to the right of the bird bath to prevent builder from stomping on them while laying the slabs:
Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.8 -
Morning ladies
Absolutely beautiful Narco and so uplifting to see some colour xx
It is pouring with rain here, oh well the ducks love it! Absolutely no plans for the day other than the children coming home and us getting ready for the school week ahead.
I want (actually NEED) to list some bits on eBay but I have a chap claiming he didn’t receive his item, so until that is sorted I will hold off - don’t want to go to the effort of listing and selling only for my funds to be put on hold!
Have lovely days all xx

Morning all.
Narco, the garden looks good. We visited DS at his new house yesterday. He has the most amazing massive garden. Although I love my little garden which I use as an allotment, I do have garden envy this time. There was a large lawn you could play football on, a summer house, a hot tub and games room area, a pond and lots of decking and paved seating areas.
Today, we are visiting DD. She has a postage stamp garden with fake grass.
Flying will be limited but at least I've mentioned it.
Have a great day everyone.Spend less now, work less later.9 -
Morning all
Patio envy Narco, I dont think I will get my decking this year, in fact I worry that if we do a temporary fix as DH is suggesting it might not happen for a very long time. However, a temporary fix would make the back garden look better. We have too much garden to look after, I would rather just have a little square with a neat patio like Narco's to sit on.
DS2 went out with some of his old school friends last night and is sleeping on someones floor so might want picking up, it's like going back to when he was 15. DS1 and GF are here, DS1 is playing golf and GF is riding her horse but no idea when that is happening.
We are supposed to be going to the coast for a brisk walk and fish and chips. Where we go will depend on what state DS2 is in.
Pigpen Harvey looks pleased with his shoes!!
I am off to research this weekend away that we said we would do for our combined big birthdays otherwise it wont happen!9
