Becoming debt free within 18 months

Well done so far. I do think avoiding using credit cards is the best way to go. I would cancel them as soon as they are cleared. I do have one card left which I use for the protection of on line purchases, but pay it off the second I use it. I don’t even wait for the bill, if something goes on it, I immediately log on and pay it off, before it’s even hit the balance. I like a lot of what Dave Ramsey says and he advises that you don’t need to have debt turnover for a good credit rating, there are ways around that if you need checks for a mortgage, what you need is no debt at all.Well done on everything so far, you are doing good 👍Not all who wander are lost - J.R.R.Tolkien

Thank you WW i have heard good things about the Dave ramsey approach i will have a look later once dd is in bed. I am going to use my other current account for the shopping money, its less messy!
Yesterday i spend £36 so more than i wanted but stocked up on things for the month i.e tea bags, squash toilet roll...all things i buy regularly but it was half price so i will save later on in the month.
Today i have, sorted paint for outside out, visited a relative, dd played with the kids, done 2 loads of washing including a big towel load, all on the washing line drying. I will sort something out the freezer for me and dd, a bit of a late tea. Got a refund from Amazon of £45 that i wasnt expecting and some free chocolates they sent by mistake due to them continuing my subscribe and save after i cancelled it but tbf to them they were lovely and sorted it out fine.
Only spent 95p on a stamp as i cant find mine anywhere and it was a card that needed to be sent.
Still to do: online shop for weekend, only need dog food and sandwich stuff for work and school
Movie evening with dd
Tidy up after dinner
Tomorrow's plans:
All meals from stores
Collect a parcel
Paint the fences
Need to go and buy some dividers, only need 3 i am waiting for a voucher so hopefully that comes through and can pay for them.
Change beds, wash and dry bedding hopefully outside
Keep energy under £2 for the day.
General tidying.
Thats all i can think of for now, not exactly wild but productive

Done all my jobs for today, energy is £1.79 so far for the day so happy with that. Changed beds to and also tidied some of the clutter in my bedroom. Time to sit down with a cup of tea and watch some tv. Online shop done, i did 2 orders to see which was cheaper Asda came out a few pennies cheaper so i have ordered from there with collection Sunday afternoon. Still on my list is a sack of potatoes (these will last the month) and a big box of washing powder that usually lasts me 3 months then i am stocked up for a while with those. Total food spends for the month so far £78 but most of that is stock to last at least the month.1

Feeling really productive today, went to wilko for thw garden bits, also picked up anti bac wipes as i use them in the bathroom to clean up and won't get them from anywhere else as they are to expensive, usually double the price! Managed to get a few bits cheaper than on my A shop so grabbed them and have just removed them from my list, saved £2, got potatoes and a small washing powder (cant find the big one as it works out cheap) £85.50 total food spends for the month so far.
My plans for today were:
Collect a parcel -done
Paint the fences -done (except a couple i cant move the furniture in front of it so oh will do those)
Need to go and buy some dividers, only need 3 i am waiting for a voucher so hopefully that comes through and can pay for them. - i paid cash and not using my voucher as it still has not come
Change beds, wash and dry bedding hopefully outside- washing on the line, beds were changed last night
Keep energy under £2 for the day.
General tidying.
I will go and find something for tea not sure what yet but have a great selection of foods so i will see!
Feel like oh is starting to see, he is due some tax back and used the words "that can go towards a debt" he means his which is obviously fine but him wanting to pay things off quicker to get debt free certainly helps us as a family and makes things easier for me if ive got him with me we can both help each other continue.2 -
Had a nice relaxing evening yesterday as i got everything done nice and early!
Todays plans are
2 loads of washing (1 is already in) and dry outside.
Got fish out for tea, need to grab some cobs from down the road, that will be £1 or i will have a drive to lidl and get them cheaper, prob do that to save a few pennies.
Got lots of studying to do, so that is my main priority.
Collect a parcel, its my friends daughters bday present, in the sale from asda, £10.30 spent.
General tidying.
Sort work clothes out and maybe iron them later if i get chance.
Keep energy under £2 but the heating is on as i have woken up freezing, will turn it off now make another hot drink and study upstairs as it is warmer.
Thats it for now, going to make a start on studying!0 -
Yesterday was spent mostly studying, so i didnt spend anything other than £1 on cobs and £5 on vape juice, it lasts me around 5 weeks and a lot cheaper than smoking!
Today dd had her club, £3 spent on subs, had a voucher come through so brought myself a health grill had to put £4 to it as the voucher was for £20 and an additional £ 2.09 on eggs and sponges i can get 75p back from cashback site, already claimed it back when i was in the carpark. Collected shopping came home, cooked a lovely dinner and relaxed with oh and dd. Still need to collect the parcel will try on the way home from work tomorrow as going past the shop. Also popped into a shop grabbed razors, deodorant etc and a new foundation as back to work and this one covers nothing £20 spent (I am always rounding up with my spending makes it easier for me) total food spends for the month are £107.09 rounded to £108 for ease.
Tomorrow's plans:
Back to work, already made lunch (wraps) and clothes all ironed ready.
Nsd
Need to collect a parcel
Tea from stores, dd already put her request in for cheese and potato pie, got everything and nice and cheap.
Sort clothes out for Tuesday as dd is back at school then along with sandwiches.
Early night, i am going to try going to bed at 10pm and turning the tv off at 10.30am as i need to be up earlier from now on.
Film evening with dd, she already has made her request again but i dont mind, her choices for the most part are good choices.
A nice quiet day tomorrow after work anyway....i am off for a quick bath then a cuppa in bed watching tv.0 -
This week has gone very fast, monday was work then tea and chilled as planned with dd, NSD1, Tuesday was work then pottered about, took dd to her club took a drink, NSD2. Yest work, tea from stores, needed cobs £1 LSD. Today needed sugar and fresh bits for dinner tomorrow at work, £7 spent will need to pay for school dinners for dd as i forgot butter so another £2.50 another LSD. I am really pleased with my week, it may not have been fancy but my weeks never are and i usually spend far more money. Energy has been below £2 each day, today will be £2.50 as the weather has been bad so the dryer went on for an hour but i pit what i could on the airer and weve had the heating on for a short while when we were cold. I need to wrap 2 presents and write cards and will deliver them tomorrow on the way home from work so i wont use any extra petrol. Need to decide what to have for tea tomorrow, got things in but jusf cant decide.
Still to do:
Meal plan and click and collect shopping list.
Do my lunch for work
Order school lunch for tomorrow.
Go to bed at 10pm aint to be asleep for 10 45pm
Wrap presents and write cards
Tomorrow
Go to work.
Drop presents off (i have stayed in my budget...actually both cost £12 for 2 people as i had a box i wouldnt eat and would have brought something similar)
Meals from stores
General tidying, need to put ironing away.
Chilled evening with oh and dd, were trying to relax a bit more as were always on the go so need to make some downtime.
Also my monthly amount so far for food is £118.50
Thats all for now...1 -
I don’t iron 😬 I realised I was the only one doing it, so stopped. Since stopping I’ve found most things don’t need it. For the odd thing that does, then it would get ironed before wearing…but honestly jeans, t shirts, hoodies, bedding, etc. doesn’t really need it. Such a time saver 😁

Hello @WinterWarrior i don't iron anything i don't have to, usually uniforms and if were going outout...which is probably every 2-3 years
thankfully with how much weight i have put on over the past year everything stretches anyway and the creases go out of clothing!
This week i have been good, until today. Yesterday was a NSD just went to work, dropped off a present and did some housework, ate from stores.
Today, i collected the food shopping, £67 spent, i forgot some bits and needed 2 new plant pots £21.50 total on top, i am being hard on myself but it could have been much worse in home b@rgins! Total food spents for the month so far £207 with 2 weeks left, i do however have £17 in my cashback app with £11 claimed and put in my cashback account today so it brings my total down but i will do that at the end of the month to top that weeks shopping up and no transfer fees if i get it over £20.
Tomorrows plans:
Dd has a club £3 to spend on subs, will take drinks and snacks.
Weve talked about the cinemas if it is raining as it is forecast, i have 2 free tickets so just 1 to buy so £6 to go and some popcorn from the shop down the road, i have plenty of drinks i can take.
Meals from stores, got some new meals to try in the shopping to mix it up a bit.
Got a load of towels but they can wait until Monday when it is meant to be nice so i can hang them outside.
Paint the last couple of panels of fences.
Will need petrol Monday ready for next week but that is budgeted for.
My actifry broke today will prder part from ebay tomorrow when i find the model number, i use it all the time!
Nothing overly exciting going on here will check back tomorrow:)0 -
Todays been ok, dd went to her club, £3 spent but oh gave me £2 so only £1 for me. We went to the cinemas we upgraded to recliners, but we only had to pay for 1 ticket for £13 and £3.69 on popcorn and a couple of bottles of pop, had someone in front spent the whole time on their phone, why do these people not stay at home she could have spent an afternoon with her family instead insta and online shopping are a better option for her. Anyway thats my moan. Came home made sweet and sour chicked, 28p mix from asda with some rice and naan bread it was amazing we all demolished it!it will be a new meal in our house, put washing away and some drying in the dryer as the weather is shocking here.
Tomorrow i dont really have anything i want to do, cant do painting outside as its wet, need to get petrol and sort uniforms out, got meat out for a cooked dinner too, altho oh is at work so just me and dd i think! Will save some for oh sandwiches in the weeknot much going on at all, but this is the dangerous time when i start online shopping but not today i am too tired so relaxing in bed!
