Thank you all. Mr LH does take me shopping every week and to be fair to him he would take me wherever I want to go. It's partly my wanting to shop without feeling I am keeping him waiting in the car and partly it's some independence that I don't want to give up. There are a lot of things I have difficulty doing so being able to go to the sm on my own is important plus I am a stubborn so and so. He was somewhat annoyed I didn't wake him to go today. See I said I am stubborn and hate asking for help.
Lol, a good match for each of you then 😆 🤣

:)  After being married for over 52years we know each other pretty well. Of course being the female half I am always right. :Do:)
    Of course! 😆

When I wanted our lounge walls painting, I bought tester pots (at least 6 shades of yellow) until I was happy with the shade - and I'm still happy with it several years on - it makes the room appear warmer even on gloomy days.

A threadbare carpet is dangerous, we'd all hate to hear either of you had tripped and hurt yourself.

Would you consider telling Mr LH that you will ring him as you finish your shopping/mooching, then have a sit down in a cafe with a hot drink until he arrives?
What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?

I always wonder if the banks notify you really early so that you actually miss a good date to deal with it.  As in you say to yourself I will deal with this in 4/5 weeks & suddenly it is 9/10 weeks & they have had your money for a few weeks at pathetic rates.  Then they move them to yet another account number.  I have one bank that keeps moving stuff for this reason & I have all these empty accounts that are almost impossible to get rid of.  And you land up with trailing interest of about 2p which if you close the account too soon you actually lose.

Very productive day, enjoy your fresh bedding, there are very few nicer simple pleasures imo 😊

So pleased you bought something for yourself and the good quality version, and that you're starting to compile a nice wish-list.
I don't think any of us were thinking you should buy something equivalent to a car (unless you want it!), more that it's important that you get your fair share of things that are pleasing and for you.
Having a roughly similar amount in a pot that is all yours for whenever you think 'ooh I shouldn't' but can is marvellous. Your sister and BiL would be delighted to know they're still sparking joy throughout your life

I would perhaps include a taxi both ways in the cost of the theatre outing, your sister would love to know she's given you some very enjoyable nights (or matinees) which have been completely hassle free.  How wonderful you are  identifying things that will bring you joy.  Having lots of little things spread out over the next few years will ensure the inheritance gives you the maximum pleasure and you'll remember your bil and sister each time
