Mine is a stubborn guarding dog, very selective with who she likes !

Which dna test did you use? I need to buy one 🤣
We used wisdom panel for the testing. Very easy to do as long as your dog doesnt mind having her gum wiped with a swab. It has to be 2 swabs. Bear was very good when I did his. He, too can be very stubborn and often "cant hear " when he doesnt want to do something. One of our our vets used to call this terrier ears when we still had the little one and as the greater part of his DNA is terrier I think he has the same affliction.

Well done on the weightloss!  Enjoy your hot cross buns and easter treats, you've done so well.

    Interesting result with Bear.
I will certainly enjoy my hot cross buns. I usually eats loads of them before and after Easter so having them one at a time is a novelty and from yesterdays experience I will enjoy them more one at a time.

    Evening all.
Thank you beanielou and jwil. I am pleased with the way is coming off very slowly. I am now able to wear a pair of trousers I bought before Christmas but were to small for me. The only snag is I think for the first time ever I am going to have to take them up as the legs are too long.

I spent much of the morning looking up all Bears breeds and printing out the information. I will go through it all and highlight any traits I think he shows.

I had a phone call this morning from the dog control people about the incident with our neighbours dog a couple of weeks ago. Apparently they are very busy so they cant get to us until the 10th April to take a statement. If what I see on the local faebook dog pages is any example I am not surprised they are busy and yesterday we saw the dog involved with Bears first incident and us being threatened harrassing another small dog. We couldnt do anything unfortunately as we had Bear with us and we were a fair way away but if I see the owner of the dog who was obviously not happy at having a big off lead dog around I wll say something.

My get up and go has gone again and I just feel I am going from day to day without acheiving anything much. The stuff I do just seems like plain hard work. The brain want me to do stuff but I just cant be bothered. I will no doubt improve again soon.

Meals lunch - salad, sardines, b&b, dinner cullen skink, French bread. Snacks yoghurt, banana.
  • Glad Bear doesn't have any concerning health indicators, and glad you are able to enjoy some Easter treats!
I'm sure your get up and go will come back soon, this spring weather isn't helping us get a spring in the step is it. Nothing wrong with a bit of relaxing time, you get a lot done generally

You've been so busy recently, have a nice rest and then hopefully your get up and go will return.

Seems like the town planners messed up a bit when designing your town @ladyholly.  What a pain for you  to have to mainly rely on taxis and buses, it must be real nuisance for you.

How lovely for you to have such pleasant neighbours @ladyholly.  Most of the folk in our road are absolutely great ..... one or two slightly 'difficult' ones though .... and not just us who think that!  :/

I dont think our town was planned they simply stuck businesses on any old bit of land they found. I can get to two of  the supermarkets using one bus but many of the shops are a no go unless Mr LH takes me in the car. I hate asking him because he doesnt get up until lunchtime so by the time we get out its gone 2pm and by that time I have lost any interest.  Tuesday shopping is bad enough but at least I can shoot through that and am usually home by between 3 and 3.30pm.

    Evening all.

Today has been a day of all seasons in one go. We have had heavy rain, light rain, wind, thunder and sun. We did miss out on the snow. It has generally been cold but apparently the weekend will improve.

Went shopping this morning to get some stuff we will need by Monday as the buses are on Sunday service from tomorrow until Tuesday. I got a leg of lamb for Sunday which is a treat as its quite expensive plus milk etc.

Another very lazy day other than the shopping but I think I am feeling a bit better. Mr LH reminded me that we had a another incident with the dog that got him a couple of weeks ago last summer so we will also tell the dog control people about that. I had forgotten it or I would have mentioned it when I rang them. I did go through all the stuff I printed out yesterday about the various breeds in Bears DNA and I can see some of his behaviours in there. Most especially his guarding of me when Mr LH isnt about. Its funny really as Mr LH wont (cant ) take hime out on his own since the incident so most of the time morning and evening its just me and Bear. He obviously think Mr LH can protect him better than me but every incident we have had has been when Mr LH is on his own with him.

I thinks thats it for today.

Meals lunch - scrambled egg, b&b salad, dinner -  pasta, tuna, mushrooms, peas, broccoli, sweet potato. Snacks banana,  yoghurt, hot cross bun.
