Getover it, Ebeneezer- most of us post in other sections too, relating to Moneysaving on other things, but come here for our own personal 'Trisha' 'Oprah' answers to our emotional questions.

If you have a problem with that, why not contact the mods and ask them to create a special 'Agony Aunt' forum just for us? :D

    Hi,

    I
This is a money saving experts forum not a general help with life forum :(
what time to put your kids to bed or how to get your kid to do homework are NOT money saving problems....

Perhaps we could have a sub forum for those with problems and those with advice but please for the love of god stick to saving money posts

tis the season to be jolly...fa la la la la, la la la la:D

oh d9oo why does this forum bother you so much dear? come on, spill the beans, a problem shared is a problem halved you know!

    bah humbug:rolleyes:
    totally a tog!:D
  • d900 does though have a valid point when he suggests that a separate area would be an appropriate thing to set up.

I'm with ailuro2 that having an agony aunt type of forum might well be a good request to make. Quite clearly, there is plenty of mileage in seeking help or advice for dealing with the more personal problems that occur in most peoples lives at some time.

Why not channel the views expressed as a response to the original post into a formal request for a 'problem page'? My motivation is simple - I would hate to have gone through all that I have in my own life and not be able to offer whatever wisdom I may have acquired (the hard way) for the potential benefit of others.

I'm happy to be the first to sign my name up to the petition to His Lordship Lewis for permission to do so. Anyone else?

I personally would rather some-one posted here albeit the incorrect forum if they felt in need of advice and support. It is moneysaving as far i am concerned because it costs NOTHING to give a minute or two to some-one else who could be desperate and have no where else to turn to. To the op. You must have a fortunate life to not understand why some-one may hastily post here.Count yourself lucky!

    Hi,

I know this is probably the wrong place (and making it worse) but i dont see many "MoneySaving in Marriages, Relationships & Families Posts"
i see lots of "help me" posts that have nothing to do with SAVING MONEY.

This is a money saving experts forum not a general help with life forum :(

or being the grumpy man i am i will report posts ...(including my own waste of time one here)

Does it really matter as long as it meets the needs of the majority of users?

Boy, you must have a boring life if you have the time to troll this forum to read and report every single post that ought not to be here! Go get out and get some fresh air! Will do you a lot of good!

On a serious note, one poster on another thread was questioning whether their post belonged to this forum or not, and that's really sad because this person needs help and not to agonise over whether they have posted on the correct forum or not!

  • a lot of posts don't fit 100% into any one board anyway - or is that just me? a problem about payments from work could end up being a current account problem, or a student asking about budget management could easily post and get replies on DFW.

i can't think of many (any?!) familiy financial problems that aren't somehow linked to 'emotional' problems, so dealing with it all together works pretty well!

The official line on the issue of non money saving family posts is actually posted HERE and is a sticky thread on this board. :)

Essentially, general family 'chit-chat' stuff is asked to be kept to the 'general chat' boards (MSA and Discussion Boards) and this board used primarily for threads of a moneysaving nature.

Many of the relationship/family problem threads do have a financial undertone though, and posters are asked to be sensitive about other posters and their questions, even if they are not 100% moneysaving. :o These forums create a sense of community which is why people want to keep coming back and look for advice and support. :T

    Good day,

I am fairly easy going (honest) i have had some xmas cards but they dont mean much as i am Jewish.

as of 12:48 and the 20 posts in this forum that are not stickys
we currently have such money saving tips as:

I just need to tell someone (the story of a drunk worried lady)
Help Nits (someone asking about how to wash hair)
Lack of baby movement ( a worried mother to be)
Money grabbing relative!!! (as it says poor grandma :( )
Has anyone had 'pterygium'??? (someone asking about a medical condition)
MoneySaving in Marriages, Relationships & Families (a grumpy mans story)
This is complicated (someone trying to get money so its money related)
Gift if your child can't go to a party? (ballons and goodie bags all round)
Any parents of Autistic children please! (a worried parent)
how often do u get to go out with ur OH (now u have kids do u go out?)
    the pill (medical advice)
Urgent..sickness bug or over eating? (enough said)
nursery owner is awful ...i get anxious dropping my child now(worried parent)
My Sister Really Annoys Me (thats what sisters do)
What time is about right for a 12yr old to go to bed (who knows)
Help, coffee in my sony walkman (enough said)
so there u go, about 15 posts about peoples worries with not a hint of MONEY SAVING. Congrats to the 4 or so posts that did talk about money a little :)

btw i am not a troll just a keen money saver who has used this site for some time and now find it very hard to actually find anything with everyones problems.........i only posted in here as its probably the worst forum for it :) techi stuff and dyi are nearly as bad.

i would love to help people with what ever problem and i think its great u all offer advice BUT lets take it elsewhere.

correctamondo i linked to that in my first post

    Thanks for your time.
The orginal post in this thread has a very very slim chance of being about money saving. The post is more than likely to ask a question that google could answer better than any of us.

The official advice from the MSE Forum Team is below
non moneysaving threads generally should not be posted in this part of the site :)
    Hi

We've recently changed the name of this board to emphasise that this board is mainly for pure moneysaving issues on Marriages, Relationships & Families and where possible we'd encourage regulars to keep posts on moneysaving where possible.

However, we are a community and a caring forum so we want to support everyone who comes here. Please be aware though that there are other boards to discuss non moneysaving issues and where possible we would appreciate they are kept on the correct board. I'd also like to remind people that this forum does not advocate specialist advice being given or requested; that isn't what we are about.

This isn't meant to be a hard and fast rule, but a gentle reminder to help us to help this site.
