Out of curiosity, for those of you that have received the letter, did you actively use the account?
i don't use the card very often.. i only really spend on credit cards, but i have a credit into the account each month, and DDs in place.

i'll watch the Child & Co developments with interest. if the brand continues, with a Child & Co card, i'll retain the account, but if they are taken away i will close it. had 10 current accounts a few months ago, M&S closed, so 9 now, and Halifax Rewards is no longer appealing etc.. i could see myself with just HSBC and Lloyds accounts in my home town in a few months time.
  • I have not received the letter yet, which sounds strange.

Mine is a rewards account, so pretty active, with good volumes and values of transactions…

So is mine but I got the letter. I wouldn’t meet the requirements for RBS private however. Do you?

They may well transfer Child to the Drummond branch and operate it from there.

They've already said the accounts are being transferred to the Royal Bank branch in Victoria.
Given Drummonds is already a mix of standard and private; they could have just moved all there.

I fall around their Premier Criteria but not officially premier.

The Personal Bankers were already shared between the two branches. Some of Drummonds’  (I know the branch manager as well) Private Bankers are shared with Coutts. I start to think that probably anyone that were not assigned /liaise directly with a personal banker have been issued the standard letter and moved to Victoria. The one with personal bankers (not private) will potentially receive a later communications with different instructions.

This is all speculation - there will obviously be issues with operating a sort code between branches rather than a central location or single home branch. They could simply transfer the customers across to Coutts or NatWest too (using any of the various brands) as the Royal Bank is clearly being phased out in England and Wales anyway.

Yes but RBS often sends out generic communications which have no baring on Child branded accounts. For example they make no reference on paper to the Child brand. It is just a rewards account. So it is also possible the message does not apply to Child branded cards. Some customers on the 15-80-00 sort code only received RBS branded standard account. Equally they may have already reviewed all the accounts and selected the ones they wanted and the rest of us were cast out!

Very much doubt the 15-80-00 sort code is being split between different branches.

Apart from anything, that'd involve informing at least one set of customer's their sort code would be about to change, I'd expect more than 6 months notice of such a thing.
