Out of curiosity, for those of you that have received the letter, did you actively use the account?

I am asking because my wife does not and has received the letter posted above in this thread,  whilst I actively do (rewards account, DD, monthly salary and other incomes circulated into and out, Debit Card used regularly, etc), have a call once a year from my Personal Banker from the branch, and have yet to receive the letter.

The physical branch is closing, and that is for sure, but I was wondering if some customer profiles will receive a letter with different informations at a latter stage?

I also bank with Drummonds and have their branded Debit card. The branch was completely refurbished within the last 2 years, so hopefully they stay open for the time being.

Are you a private or retail customer?
Retail but I was assigned a personal banker which I met few times and had spoke directly over the phone other times. It is a bit of an enhanced service but not yet Private (I have the same with Lloyds).

If you have one of the Child & Co branded accounts, but don’t qualify for private/wealth banking do you get any additional benefits, or is it just the branded cheque book and debit card etc?

when I met the eligibility criteria for Barclays wealth and moved from Premier, they opened a new current account as part of the process on the 20-47-47 sort code (Barclays wealth / Mayfair), but also migrated my existing current account.  There’s a few extra perks like little book of wonders, and you also get a much lower overdraft rate (5.6%), and £1k interest free instead of £500.
My understanding is that for certain customers (at least the one served in Branch and with incomes around the Premier level, you would get a personal banker, which in the latter years was shared with Drummonds).

I am interested in your comment about migrating your existing account: are you saying that they also changed your old sort code and now have two wealth accounts or simply that your old premier account now comes under the wealth management team (as well as having a new Wealth Account)? My understanding was that Barclays Private and Wealth customers’ account information are not fully visible by the standard retail team (e.g cannot see balances etc)

Wealth can see retail current accounts, but are not able to make changes to them and vice versa.

When I joined wealth I still had to go through rigorous KYC checks etc, even as an existing Barclays customer.  As part of the setup process a wealth current account was created, as it’s required to fund any investment products you open.

Once I was setup, they were able to migrate my existing premier current account over and convert it to a wealth account.  The sort code remained the same, but all subsequent statements etc are now branded wealth.  The migration process automatically generated a new wealth branded debit card.

As a wealth customer when you log into online banking you are connected to Barclays One portal which is more geared to your investments, there is a link from here that opens the regular online banking if you want to manage your current account.

In addition your personal banker for your investments, you also get a general wealth client services number who can deal with any general banking issues or requests with your current account.  They answer very quickly but only operate during normal office hours, if you call outside of this time your call is routed to the premier team - who can see your accounts but not make any changes.  They can cancel cards etc, but if you have any other requests they route them to the wealth team to deal with during office hours.

It seems to be a bit random. The first account I had there, I spoke to a banker. The second there was no contact.

I think they are going to shove retail customers back over to RBS retail.

I am surprised you got a Drummonds debit card as was believed retail customers didn't receive one. Can you post a picture of it? I may try and go for one.

Just in regards to Barclays, when I held  a standard current account with them, they accidentally put me on the premier brand (without the benefits)

It looks like you get a ‘Premier banking Manager’ as a regular RBS Premier customer.  Is the advantage with Child & Co that you could meet them in person if required?  Where they also able to offer any additional products normally only available to private clients?

    from RBS website:

    One-to-one support

You’ll have a Premier Banking Manager to help make your financial life easier. From your first conversation, they'll get to know you, your current circumstances and any plans you might already have in place.

You can meet your relationship manager in person with any RBS or Natwest Branch (Covid restrictions permitting anyway). This isn't limited to Premier banking either. I had a meeting with my Natwest manager last year at her request.

It's mostly a 'can we interest you in other products' type call, mostly 'we can see you don't have a mortgage but we'd really like you to get one'.

Although you can get face to face meeting with Managers at any Natwrst/RBS branch, you had actually a direct phone number for the Personal Banker assigned to you.

i was never offered any products directly only discussed general account review and objectives, and if I needed some support making some financial decision. I  also have a similar set up with Lloyds. They offer this to customer that do not meet the Private a banking criteria but have higher income then average as Lloyds no longer offer a Premier product. I have Barclays Premier and HSBC Premier accounts as well.

With regards to Drummonds, the Branded debit card can only be ordered by the branch team, hence my personal banker ordered one for me. My son has a Child Current account that we opened at the same branch and also has the card.
One of the business I am director at, also bank with that branch and have facilitated  opening of account for some of the employees (letter of introductions and confirmation of employment), directly in branch, but they only got general RBS cards, so I think they actually do apply some criteria to who gets the card.

The RBS brand will ultimately only be retained north of the border. The UK operation will be NatWest branded. A return to it's pretakeover roots. Distancing itself from the infamous Fred the Shred era.

Thank you for the photo. It is a nice card but I do prefer the Child brand purely due to the giant RBS logo they have added on the Drummonds one. And also thank you for the info re Drummonds card. It was long speculated on here retail customers could not get one, this seems to the be the case unless you have something tangible going on also at the bank etc.

Indeed, I do not like that giant RBS logo in the middle of it.. they could have kept it all dark blue like the Child&Co card and it would have been much better. As a matter of fact I do not carry the card with me but it has the same look on the Apple Wallet even though the 6 digits bin is the same as the other RBS cards, so it must come from full card number, similarly to Child&Co card on the same Apple Wallet.

When the branch reopened after being closed for refurbishment for a while, I was told by my PB that there would be some possible rebranding of Cards, Chequebooks, etc, so maybe a better card design will be coming along.
