Child & Co RBS Branch to close

It looks like you get a ‘Premier banking Manager’ as a regular RBS Premier customer. Is the advantage with Child & Co that you could meet them in person if required? Where they also able to offer any additional products normally only available to private clients?Marchitiello said:
Retail but I was assigned a personal banker which I met few times and had spoke directly over the phone other times. It is a bit of an enhanced service but not yet Private (I have the same with Lloyds).Deleted_User said:Are you a private or retail customer?

You’ll have a Premier Banking Manager to help make your financial life easier. From your first conversation, they'll get to know you, your current circumstances and any plans you might already have in place.0 -
You can meet your relationship manager in person with any RBS or Natwest Branch (Covid restrictions permitting anyway). This isn't limited to Premier banking either. I had a meeting with my Natwest manager last year at her request.
It's mostly a 'can we interest you in other products' type call, mostly 'we can see you don't have a mortgage but we'd really like you to get one'.1 -
Although you can get face to face meeting with Managers at any Natwrst/RBS branch, you had actually a direct phone number for the Personal Banker assigned to you.Se1Lad said:

i was never offered any products directly only discussed general account review and objectives, and if I needed some support making some financial decision. I also have a similar set up with Lloyds. They offer this to customer that do not meet the Private a banking criteria but have higher income then average as Lloyds no longer offer a Premier product. I have Barclays Premier and HSBC Premier accounts as well.
With regards to Drummonds, the Branded debit card can only be ordered by the branch team, hence my personal banker ordered one for me. My son has a Child Current account that we opened at the same branch and also has the card.
One of the business I am director at, also bank with that branch and have facilitated opening of account for some of the employees (letter of introductions and confirmation of employment), directly in branch, but they only got general RBS cards, so I think they actually do apply some criteria to who gets the card.

The RBS brand will ultimately only be retained north of the border. The UK operation will be NatWest branded. A return to it's pretakeover roots. Distancing itself from the infamous Fred the Shred era.0

Thank you for the photo. It is a nice card but I do prefer the Child brand purely due to the giant RBS logo they have added on the Drummonds one. And also thank you for the info re Drummonds card. It was long speculated on here retail customers could not get one, this seems to the be the case unless you have something tangible going on also at the bank etc.Marchitiello said:

Indeed, I do not like that giant RBS logo in the middle of it.. they could have kept it all dark blue like the Child&Co card and it would have been much better. As a matter of fact I do not carry the card with me but it has the same look on the Apple Wallet even though the 6 digits bin is the same as the other RBS cards, so it must come from full card number, similarly to Child&Co card on the same Apple Wallet.[Deleted User] said:

When the branch reopened after being closed for refurbishment for a while, I was told by my PB that there would be some possible rebranding of Cards, Chequebooks, etc, so maybe a better card design will be coming along.1 -
This is what the Barclays wealth debit card looks like …

What about this, made of 73% cornstarch …

I received a letter through the post today from Child & Co asking me to call and verify a couple of recent transactions. I had already called a few days ago so no action was necessary. I was interested to see the address. It seems to backup the notion that the brand can exist even though the branch is being closed.

Out of interest, what were the fun features back then?Deleted_User said:I had one of the Child&Co branded debit cards and cheque book back in the day while the fun lasted. Good times!
