Child & Co RBS Branch to close

As far as I understand, there is no way for any department within RBS to assign a sort code to new account opening. Myself and the wife have Drummonds based RBS Premier accounts, our first born have a Drummonds current account opened at age of 11yo but when my second born turned 11 two years ago, and who had already a Drummond branded First Saver, they were unable to open the current account with the Drummonds sort code. I tried to escalate it to the Premier Team I deal with, they escalate it internally, it went back and forth for months, but at the end, the final answer was that it is not longer possible to open an account using these sort codes.

Even if you visit the Drummonds branch in person?

yes, that is actually my branch as I often I am in the area for Business meeting and use to know the branch manager as well. You cannot open an account in branch anymore anyway. What is more, they only have the doorman facing customers now, and he will simply help you with the self service machines. You can get an appointment with the Private Bankers based there, if you have one assigned to you. I had one that was originally based at Child & Co, moved to Drummonds but since he moved on, I have been assigned a remote banker with whom I have had some calls and a couple of video calls .

Ah I see. I'm too in the area a few times a year and was thinking of going in with all my ID and proof of income etc to see if I could get an account next time I was down.
Thanks.

That seems to confirm these brands are retired and will soon be obsolete.

please note, I mentions “these sort codes” in my earlier reply, but both branches/brands had/have separate “Private” bank sort codes that could still be used and are managed by a shared team with Coutts, which include the management of Lottery winners at Drummonds, and senior lawyers at the big firms at C&C

Oh I see, but this would seem to conclude that these clients will be moved to Coutts rather than suggesting the brands will be kept, at least in my logic.

You are making a lot of conclusion based on little knowledge. The two branches had always (at least from years before we first started talking about them on this site) had the Private bank division which shared the team with the Coutts team. Bear in mind that the Private team will meet clients upon appointments, at either the “branch” or at any location convenient for the customer, so they always worked from more than one location. I am not excluding that eventually the Brands will be archived, but this is not connected to the closing of C&C nor the fact the retail customer cannot longer be assigned to either of the branches that issues branded cards.
my son received his new Drummonds debit card less than a month ago, and both brands still show well on my Apple wallet

I think we are going around in circles. Lets see what happens with these brands.

You still haven't revealed this Drummonds website you claim to have found…
