Child & Co RBS Branch to close

It would appear that "the form" may be no more.
A colleague of mine has been soliciting advice on moving bank accounts and tidying up her finances. I mentioned my own method of an account for wages and bills with another for day-to-day spending, along with a recommendation that a NatWest Reward for bills, Select for spending and a Digital Regular Saver for starting to build some savings would be a good start. A request to see my debit card followed, along with an explanation that even though my local bank branch is the NatWest round corner, I'm actually an RBS customer because of fancy cards from faux-private bank brands etc etc. Anyway, I Whatsapped her the form and she reported a dead link. Same for me when I checked. Messrs Child and Co may, finally, really be closed to new business.
My colleague is genuinely fuming about this..............she really liked the Child & Co debit card!0 -
That form does occasionally disappear and is inaccessible, but then it pops up again. Hopefully that's the case this time.

I did recall that, but it's been a few days now and we've been checking fairly regularly. I think it's gone for good.2 -

I wish I applied for the account before year's end 😞0

Looks like the 'old' form is now defunct. Is there now no way to open a Drummonds account?

If you really wanted account, I think you can visit the branch and apply in the branch. (Just like a normal RBS/Natwest). And they will really try to push you to do it online. At one time there was an application form you could print out but that was years ago, don’t know if it’s still about.1

But I can confirm with 100% certainty that RBS is not longer allowing new accounts to be allocated to Drummonds, no even the Premier Team can do anything about it. Before, if you helped opening an account for your child (7yo or 11yo), the child was automatically allocated the parent's branch, and so Drummonds if you were a customer, but now they are allocated a generic RBS Sort Code. As matter of fact there is no one working customer facing in the Charring Cross branch (only by appointment), just the doorman that has been there for years, has now been trained to help you to use the self service machines...2 -
wow, it really is over. Well it was good while it lasted, I have held accounts at both Child and Drummonds and having the card was pretty cool, but I closed the accounts as they were not used. Let us hope RBS make some effort to keep the brands going but it doesn't look good.0
