Your 'home branch' only makes a difference when opening accounts in future. It doesn't change the stationary you receive for any accounts already opened with the 15-80-00 sort code.
I am now officially  with Child, as it were, and am happy to stay that way but I am curious. If in a few months time (when my credit score doesn’t have a sad face due to opening accounts willy-nilly) could I apply via the form for a Drummonds account as well, and it wouldn’t affect me being able to get a replacement Child & Co card at a later date, or does the form override and move my home branch to Charing Cross? Would they both appear on the app, and would I be able to have two concurrent regular savers?

Sort codes do not change, not only for RBS but I am guessing for any other banks (I have several accounts with Barclays, current, joint, joint mortgage, savings of various type and they all have different sort codes from the branch near work where I had visited to open those at the time).

Both accounts will show in the app with their own sort code and each will have his own debit card issued, however your first/oldest account is the one that is used as default when opening new products needing a sort code, unless is a  product linked to a specific account.

@[Deleted User] on page 27 seemed to suggest the home sort code was determined by the most recent account opened rather than the first/oldest. Even then, presumably you could open Child/Drummonds/Child through the form (I don't remember seeing anywhere a limit on current accounts per customer).
  • Yes, it is my understanding that your home sort code changes to the most recently opened account. I already have a DRS so can’t check but maybe someone @WillPS? can?

I've held a Foundation, Select and Reward simultaneously.........not sure if there are any limits on how many Select accounts can be held.

I may just switch my punter-class Reward account out, switch the first Child account to Reward and hen open a new Child Select via the odd form. I did fancy a Drummonds too but seeing the debit card put me off.

Unless you use the form, your new account sort code is determined by your oldest account with RBS. For me is Child, and although not only I also have a Drummonds account (I think I was the first one to post a Drummonds card on this forum) but also actively bank in branch, know the branch manager and few of the personal bankers there, I recently opened a first saver for my youngest daughter and it defaulted to Child & Co. Interestingly, when I opened the same for my middle child 2.5 years ago, you were still able to select the branch within the regular application process, and thus we got Drummonds as I had already moved my branch visit to that branch by then. For my eldest, we opened it in branch at Child just over 7 years ago, when again I would visit quite often.

My understanding, from reading previous posts, is that your Child account would remain at the non-existent Child branch and you'd continue to receive Child branded docs and cards for that, you'd receive Drummonds-branded stationery for your Drummonds sort code account and you'd see both, with their individual sort codes, in the RBS app. Digital Regular Savers are limited to one per customer, regardless of how many current accounts are held. You can however open a NatWest Reward or Select account and have one there.

The only point of disagreement seems to be if the oldest or newest account held determines yer 'default' sort code.

I decided to test this by opening a new savings account. It would appear that – contrary to what I was previously made to believe – it is indeed your oldest account that determines your home branch, not the latest one.

I applied for Child’s in 2021 and Drummonds in 2022. The account I opened today – without selecting the SC myself – is at Child’s.

Ah - that's a shame - looks like I'll be stuck with the standard (now closed) Newcastle branch as my home sort code even when I get the child's select. But still, at least I can get the child's select 🤷🏻‍♂️ It also fixes the child's or Drummond's first conundrum
