Child & Co RBS Branch to close

It'll probably be another working day on top before your debit card will have fully generated (and can be added to Google/Apple Pay).gary1312 said:
Ah, thank you. No sign yet, but the comms did state 24 hours.WillPS said:If you see the account in your RBS app already, then you should be able to get a preview by going to Manage Card, ignore the picture on there which will be a beach hut regardless, but add the card to Google or Apple Pay and it should reflect the actual design of your physical card.
I was similar, except I switched away my existing RBS Reward account and converted my Select in to a Reward. Then I opened another select (just via the app, no peculiar old form needed now as my default sort code was now 15-80-00 rather than the Greenock one I had before), added my fiancée to that and then turned that in to a Reward too. Finally my fiancée opened a Reward account in her own name (again just via the normal app route). Easy net £9/month between us.gary1312 said:
I may as well move all my day to day banking to RBS if this card hack works, I already run a Reward account for the cashback, so Reward for the bills account and Child Select for the spending with a poncey card will work well.1 -
Good tip, which I may well follow. I live in Liverpool so haven't even had a local branch for a few months. So I have a Reward account at Liverpool and (hopefully) a Child account - would my assigned sort code (not sure if that's even a term) automatically default to the Child one upon closure of the Reward?WillPS said:

Open a savings account and see which sort code they give you if you're not sure (after your new Select account is open).
Actually when my fiancée opened her account she was asked if she'd prefer her current branch (which was misformatted as "Child & Co, , , SW1A") or choose another - I've never seen that option before or since tho, perhaps a peculiarity of her only Current Account being a joint she was added to.2 -
And were all your cards/chequebooks for your subsequent accounts Child branded, despite not using the odd form?WillPS said:

Oh BTW, I opened an RBS regular saver at the weekend and that too has the Child & Co sort code, so I guess that's my permanent home sort code.0

Yep. Statements for the savings accounts too. There's no override other than sort code, if your sort code is 15-80-00 (and you are eligible for an 'online and offline' debit card, maybe) then your debit card will be Child & Co branded. Appears to be the same story with Drummonds now too.gary1312 said:

I was thinking of doing Drummonds too, but I have to say the pics of the cards and stationery posted by other forumers didn't really impress me, so I may as well stick with Child as I do genuinely like the branding. Makes sense to switch my proper bills and spending current accounts over too as I've never had an issue with NatWest Group and I like the occasional switching offers too. Am I correct in thinking that I will be able to service my RBS accounts at my local NatWest branch?WillPS said:

Confirmation email in my RBS app (account not showing yet mind):

No, not now that I've applied - I read somewhere way back in this thread that if you want both then the best option is Drummonds first. I prefer the Childs branding rather than the massive RBS logo on the Drummonds card background, so I wouldn't want to risk having the ugly sister of the two as my home sort code.gary1312 said:

Yep. I paid in some cash in to mine at the Natwest in Nottingham on Saturday.gary1312 said:

Your 'home branch' only makes a difference when opening accounts in future. It doesn't change the stationary you receive for any accounts already opened with the 15-80-00 sort code.PloughmansLunch said:
