Be quick!
Don't lie on your application form would be my protip for not getting investigated.@strictgold5208 - thank you! I am currently an RBS customer (Digital RS and Revolve), hence why I’d prefer to avoid them closing my accounts! 😂
@WillPS - I’m not going to lie on it, not worth it at all and CIFAS markers sound like a nightmare. When you applied for Drummond’s, did you get the Drummond’s branded card, or just the RBS premier beach hut please?
From what I’ve read on here it seems new Child’s customers get Child’s cards, but new Drummond’s customers get RBS premier cards15-80-00 - Child’s
16-00-38 - Drummond’s
*EDIT - just seen your edits - what would the online only debit card be please? Never come across one of those before. My favourite colour is navy blue, so chase and child’s will be must gets for me.
In the past, the only customers who haven't received Child's branded cards have been those who scored lower (on RBS' internal credit scoring, not any made up credit score from Experian or whatnot), who would receive an 'online only' RBS debit card. I don't know if these are a thing any more, it's been years since I've known of somebody not getting a Child's card - every recent example I can recall has resulted in a Child's card being issued.
On the contrary - hardly anyone used to receive a Drummond's branded card on 16-00-38, however it seems since the switch to Mastercard something has changed and now (it seems) you will receive a Drummond's branded Mastercard.
The only way to receive an RBS Premier card is to be eligible for RBS Premier.
YMMV of curse.
'Online Only' means the debit card can only be authorised with an online connection. 'Online and offline' means the debit card can be used in situations where no online connection is possible - these use cases are extremely limited nowadays, on board trains and planes used to be the example given but in the case of trains I believe even these are all online now.
When did you sign up? The Drummond's Mastercard wasn't available until late Summer '22 I don't think...0 -

I've never had a credit product from RBS, or anywhere in fact. I only really use the Digital Regular Saver product. Perhaps I should start using my Revolve current account a little more to show I can spend, but still top up, idk. I guess the main thing that would negatively affect RBS' internal score would be an RBS default, large overdraft, missed payment etc - none of which I have.
The Drummond's card looks worse than the Child's card imo, so I might give that a miss - unless I fail to secure a Child's card. It still is the nice Navy Blue colour, but it's a shame they had to put a big RBS logo on the front.
I think I'd misremembered the RBS Premier Card bit, seems it may have just been the standard beach hut.
Ah right - I've got a few different current accounts with different providers and all my cards are online and offline - hopefully RBS see fit to give me that for Child's tooIf you want me to definitely see your reply, please tag me @forumuser7 Thank you.

Otherwise applying again might work, and if your last account was at Drummonds you wouldn’t need to use the form since your home branch is now Drummonds.I think I’m the person @WillPS knows of who got the Drummonds card in December. That said I believe online vs offline cards are still a thing. I vaguely recall someone getting a beach hut.If you want me to definitely see your reply, please tag me @forumuser7 Thank you.

If you use the old/'rbos' form, you are always given a choice. Whether or not Child's still shows on there I do not know; 15-80-00 is the sort code you want.1 -
WillPS said:If you use the standard application form as an existing customer you are normally (but not always!) not given a choice about branch, and thus your sort code is the same as the last account you opened (regardless of whether that branch is open physically).

You mentioned RBS uses an internal credit score - does this mean they are unlikely to carry out a hard search unless I apply for an arranged overdraft please? Just want to make sure I won’t tank my credit score!

Thanks
RBS will likely use the data they collect from that search as well as any data they already hold for you to generate some kind of internal score which informs whether or not to allow or decline the application, as well as some other parameters (random example which RBS may or may not actually do - encourage you to apply for an overdraft).
You don't have "a credit score" so you don't need to worry about "tanking it".1
