Noneforit999 said:Charter Savings 1 year fixed cash ISA seems a good deal at 5.2% if you are near or over the PA
My wife has £40k in a chase easy access at 3.8 and with what she has in another fixed savings, she is over or near the PA so thinking we stick £20k into the Charter ISA at 5.2%.
Annoyingly she has been using a rubbish Lloyds Cash ISA to move money about so I need to figure out what she’s used of the allowance since April into that, pay whatever of the allowance is left into that and then do a transfer I think?0 -

The issue with Charter that bothered me, was how to specify your reference when making a deposit - and the inconsistency in how they specify it. I noticed they had an FAQ yesterday and that differs again - that states to use your 7 digit account number and surname. My account no. is 13 digits long - even their temporary opening reference is 9 digits. I fear this sloppiness is likely to be a deal breaker for me - in view of their high minimum initial deposit and no cooling off period. I've sent a secure message for clarification - if the response isn't satisfactory, I'll look elsewhere.
So it's = 9 digits then surname.
But yes, this contradicts what their FAQ say. I've banked with them and Aldermore before, so knew they both had this reference system for deposits.
If you can't stand sloppy processes think long and hard should you ever consider moving home. Absolute nightmare for those of us who require precision. Add in the sums of money involved with property the frustration and stress along the way can be epic.1 -
Just opened another account with Charter, already have an account with them. Was going to pay in straight away but the account doesn’t yet show up on the online banking page. Does it normally take a while to appear?Steve0

Just a few minutes normally.0

When I opened an account as a new customer the other day, there were 14 minutes between the 'thanks for opening an account' email and the one with log in details at which point it was all up an running.0

Thanks for the replies. Nothing showing after a few hours. Will see if it shows up tomorrow. Also no email confirmation despite the new account details initially showing at the end of the application.0

Re Charter Savings Bank deposit, can we make only one or several deposits within the 14 days window (provided each will be min £5K)? Thank you for your clarification
