Good to know, thanks, but it's not good to know that there's a secret term but that's Provident Financial for you.charlie12525 said:
I phoned Vanquis today. It turns out that they do have a 14 day cooling off period which is not mentioned in their T&Cs. I was advised to open a new 2 year bond and then phone them back and they would transfer my old account to the new account with the better interest rate.wmb194 said:
Yes, you're locked in. It's common for savings bonds not to have cooling off periods.charlie12525 said:
I reinvested my maturing Vanquis fixed rate bond into a 2 year bond at 4.5% only a couple of days ago. Noticed yesterday that they had upped the rate to 4.6% for a 2 year bond. There is no mention of a cooling off period in the T&Cs. I guess I am now locked in at the lower rate?SJMALBA said:Vanquis 2 Year @ 4.6% (Like Charter, they also offer the option of monthly interest, @ 4.51%).

A real race to the top going on. I can’t reinvest anything until May, but I’m thinking there’ll be rich pickings when that time comes.2

Wonder if someone can double check to confirm, I'm interested in Natwest 1yr fix (purely to get access to their premier black acc): https://www.natwest.com/savings/fixed-term-savings-account.htmlUnder key dates and info, if I understood correctly I can withdraw if they for example if introduce higher fix after 15th May without any negative return before 26th May?0

Couple of questions...
I opened an new 2 year fix with Charter this morning but don't intend to add funds yet due to better deals elsewhere...it states...
Important – please make your deposit soon
We need to receive your initial deposit within 14 days of the date of your application.
So, if I go ahead and fund it say on 3rd May, will my monthly interest be paid on the 3rd of every month moving forward or will it be paid monthly on the day I originally opened it...ie today 21st April?
I guess the maturity date will remain 21/04/20250 -
My interest was paid on the monthiversary of the first deposit, and the maturity date is also the 2nd anniversary of the first deposit.SickGroove said:Couple of questions...

Be 100% sure you want the account, as they have a zero cooling off period, despite their T&Cs specifying a 14-day cooling off period and then adding (improperly in my opinion) a "please note" exclusion statement in there for all fixed rate accounts.2 -

Interest will be paid annually on the anniversary of your initial deposit.
