  • I thought the manual was very easy to understand and there was 4 basic functions/timers in the panel, including eco mode.

The eco start is a different from eco mode and was an in-built function of the heaters set as default. After reading the instructions oce rabd over again and a few online things from the help of my dad we figured out how to turn off the defaults settings which were hidden from the main interface.

I'm so glad I found it as it was so frustrating as I couldn't understand why it was so high.  I completely agree with gerry too and if it wasn't for all of you helping me figure it out then I wouldn't have got to it as quickly. I think there was one comment about someone's timer on their heating system and that sparked an idea when my heaters were coming on early!

I think that was me about timers - I found one on an individual heater in the cellar that was counter-intuitive to set.  My late husband set it up last winter and it had been off in the summer and when I put it back on as it got cooler and damper, I sort of absent-mindedly noticed that it seemed to be warm each time I went past it and vaguely thought 'I must bring my specs down with me next time so that I can check when it's supposed to be on' and kept forgetting.  It was only when I switched it off when I went away for a few days that I got lower usage and wondered if that was the culprit.  It was on when it should have been off and vice versa.

I'm delighted that you've got yours sorted.  I had a sudden erroneous high use in my parents' unoccupied estate property that the chaps here helped me get to the bottom of - which transpired to be a blocked water pump used to drain the garden.  A perfectly shaped pebble had blocked the pump after a deluge and it was working away making itself very hot, along with the sump of water and ground around it.  That blasted pebble cost me 70 quid and a chunk of wasted time.
  • Well thank you as what you described is what happened and it made me think of what I had read here! It's cost me over a £1000 in electricity but today I've recorded £6 which is a huge improvement from £15 a day!
