I done the test and the red light went off for about 20 seconds them stayed on consistently. Before I switched everything off it was flashing consistently. Not sure if that's normal or not.
Yes, that can be normal, it is indicating no consumption at all, which is what you would expect.

Yes, that's normal. The constant red light shows that you're not using any electricity.
Before I switched everything off it was flashing consistently.
That shows that you were using electricity before switching everything off.

I've switched off some things on my fuse box, 5 out of 6 switches for the old heating system. Also had a TV system switch so I've turned that off.
Will the system let you post a photo of your fuse box, showing all the switches? If it won't, could you give a list of the switches and what each of them controls?

Thank you for that. My meter is a similar Aclara.
I'm going to assume that your fuse box has a circuit for your lights, a circuit for your sockets, and then a circuit for each of your 2kW heaters.
You confirmed before that with everything off your smart meter read zero.
    • Would you be able to switch off every circuit except your lights, then check that the IHD is only reading a few watts?
    • Then turn on one of the circuits for your electric heaters, and turn that heater on? What does your IHD say then, does it match the 2kW rated power of the heater?
Then try the same with each of the other heaters, and let us know the results.

Hi thanks I'll give this a try today.

My energy is spiking at 5am and 6am and my water boiler is set at 6am for an hour. So I had spoken with my dad and we switched it all off yesterday to see what it was like this morning. So I only had my fridge freezer, broadband and my phone charging over night with no boiler or hot water.  This morning it's spiked again at 5am and 6am and there's nothing on 🤷‍♀️ I've messaged my electrician and going to email sse again.

Can you give us meter readings every hour if you can please. Spikes is a vey vague term.

PS I think we are still waiting make and model of these 2 KW heaters

In order to help, we need you to be a bit more precise.  How did you "switch it all off"?  Did you turn off the switches in the consumer unit or did you do something else?  How big was the "spike" - what was the load and for how long?  What was the load - 1kW or 20kW?  How much energy was used - 2kWh or 10kWh?

A picture of the consumer unit, sufficiently zoomed out that it shows the wiring surrounding it would be very helpful.
