What does your meter look like ?  Does it have a small keypad  - in which case you press 9 to get the KWh reading.  Many modern meters are difficult to read -  look for the decimal point.

You've said you have a smart meter. Do you also have an in-home display, a little device with a display on it that gives you details of your energy use?

Great, this could be helpful. Look at the hour-by-hour use on the IHD. When during the day are you using all your electricity? At night, when you're asleep and the heaters are off, is it reading near-zero? And can you see the hump when you have your heaters on?

It's not letting me post a photo of it. There seems to be spikes between 6-8am but not sure what that is.

I've switched off some things on my fuse box, 5 out of 6 switches for the old heating system. Also had a TV system switch so I've turned that off.  Going to monitor it again as I've only had my TV, broadband, fridge freezer, IHD on all day. Used the kettle once.  Not used any other appliances or showers. I'll try that test you sent tomorrow.

    Thank you.
The IHD might also give you a daily trecord for the past week, a weekly record for the past month or so, and a monthly record for the past year.
Are your days all around 60kWh and your weeks around 400kWh? How do your months look, for example was it *much much* lower last summer when you weren't using the heating at all, under 400kWh for the month?

I only bought the property in Sept and prior to this it had been empty for 2 years so there isn't any previous data.

Yeah averaging 60kwh a day and between £12-£15 per day and £90-105 per week.
With just very little on this afternoon it's used 1.5kwh on energy and spiked to 3kw at 4pm, my heater came in in the hall and the now I've got my oven on so it's spiked again.  I think my water heater has came on also, I'll need to read more about that.

Thanks for all your help, I do appreciate it

It's a shame there isn't any history before September. does it show that you used less energy in October and November, or have you been using 60kWh/day ever since you moved in?

So you were using 1.5kW without *any* heaters on? Curious, I'd have expected you to have been using 0.3kW (300W) or less.
You don't have tropical fish, or a large collection of reptiles in vivariums? You're not growing "herbs" under grolamps?
