So deadlock letter it is for me. She advised £75 they was not in the wrong if I don't accept the offer will be removed. Good now it's going to cost them more because I'm off to the energy ombudsman when I get the deadlock letter. I am not rolling over for £75 quid I have principles.
What principals are you specifically referring to? There was a genuine issue with lack of clarity, most of us understand that, we many of us fail to see is why that entitles you to money.
Principles perhaps, but if someone relied on the information and that resulted in a loss then compensation is due.
i don’t agree on lack of clarity, guaranteed is a pretty clear unambiguous statement especially without any obvious caveat.
mistakes do happen though even glaring ones, but there can be liability for mistakes.

In a new low for British Gas they are trying to use the conflict in Ukraine as a reason why wholesale prices have risen. Last time I looked the conflict started after they removed the price guarantee.
They are correct in relation to the wholesale price movements, but that is not related to the removal of the guarantee or the level of the capped tariff.

Exactly, these big companies should be held to account. At least going to the ombudsman will have a negative mark against there behaviour. Compensation is just a bonus. I'm sick of big companies just brushing off bad practices as a cheap payment in compensation, remember there are elderly and vulnerable people that find this hard to deal with. I stand up for them. This contract has been given to many thousands of solr people who did not choose to be in such a position. For the new supplier to mislead is totally unacceptable

Getting no where with my complaint, been back and forth several times and are now closing it. They haven't even acknowledged my complaint properly regarding the removal of the price guarantee.

Guess I'll have to ask for a deadlock letter?

My deadlock letter has been emailed and a complaint has now been logged with the ombudsman. I will keep you posted 👍

I think those referencing "well you paid it to others!" won't help you so much, quite the opposite. The reason they're playing hardball is to discourage word of mouth getting round that it's easy money.

I appreciate that, but i was left with little other option to reference it as i was basically being called a liar by both BG members of staff.

I like Ofgems comment at the end of that article.

An Ofgem spokesperson said: “Our top priority is to protect consumers and make sure the market is fair for everyone. When a supplier of last resort (SOLR) is appointed, we expect that company to set direct debits according to the most accurate information available to them. If a bill payer has an issue, they should contact their supplier, or the energy ombudsman.”

Which has nothing at all to do with the issue being discussed!

I note that despite the mealy mouthed ‘admission’ BG have not said that it intends to do anything about it, certainly not in general or universal customer terms. Rather, it says it ‘might’ be able to help you out if you have a debt or payment problem.

Also the usual ‘Not me guv, see someone else’ response from the chocolate fireguard that is Ofgem.
