£350 coming from the government, is the fixing worthless now?

It's then it'll be most needed - prices now are covered by the current cap, when the cap rises in April we'll be well into spring when bills start reducing anyway due to less heating used, it's a winter season with high prices that'll cause problems.jimjames said:
And also not until October if I read it right. Not much help for those struggling now!emmajones1976 said:
I assume it will be a £200 credit applied to peoples accounts. Everyones accounts. Regardless of what rate you are currently on.Andrea15 said:OK, make me understand, is the £200 money in the bank for you to spend as you see fit or money taken out of the bill? In other words, I assumed that the bills would be discounted at source, unless you are with fix rate. Did I misunderstand it?

The £200 is nothing more than a tax free loan which will be credited to everyone's electricity account in October 2022, which will be paid back through every one's electricity bills in five £40 annual instalments from 2023.
It is not a discount. It is not a bailout. It a state loan.2 -
My only question would be this is £100 per fuel? What about if you are electric only?

As far as I can see, the £200 loan only applies to electricity (presumably on the basis that everyone uses it, but not everyone uses gas).4

Any one seen whether the £150 council tax rebate is the same whether or not someone is already getting the single person 25% discount or is it also reduced by 25%?2

I think there needs to be a petition to demand that more is done. A reduction of VAT on fuel is needed.The_Green_Hornet said:The £200 is nothing more than a tax free loan which will be credited to everyone's electricity account in October 2022, which will be paid back through every one's electricity bills in five £40 annual instalments from 2023.

The question was asked in the House and the answer given was that the full £150 would still be given.Shedman said:Any one seen whether the £150 council tax rebate is the same whether or not someone is already getting the single person 25% discount or is it also reduced by 25%?

And it is a loan that very few people want.The_Green_Hornet said:The £200 is nothing more than a tax free loan which will be credited to everyone's electricity account in October 2022, which will be paid back through every one's electricity bills in five £40 annual instalments from 2023.

I and most sensible people would rather less is done, a £200 loan now, to have to pay it back is no good to anyone and any "discount" would be funded by a combination of borrowing and taxes, leading to higher taxes in the future. The best solution would be to do nothing at all.pearl123 said:
