@WinterWarrior I'm a firm believer that retirees who can claim free bus travel should be able to donate to a 'young' person if they don't need it. Maybe someone below 30 earning below the minimum wage who can use it to get to work. Imagine the help that would be, especially if you live rurally. It would mean buses could actually operate in more remote areas too. Locally to me it's very expensive for buses and they're pretty infrequent in many areas.
But I think I'm a bit of a dreamer. I also think empty retiree flats (there are loads around me) should be available to young people who want to stay and work in the area. Recently a large disused hotel got turned into apartments. They sold for over £350k each, where as retiree apartments are about £140k. Then people wonder where we are going wrong. I don't have anything against Oldies at all. It's just relevant here as I live in a place where many retire to.
Anyway, in true me style, I've wandered far from the initial subject. But they are connected. If people can't get a good start what hope have they got?
Personally I accepted the extra job today, so fingers crossed that will all work out. I'm slightly worried about time management, and concerned I'm not skilled enough. But then I remember they approached me...
Hope everyone has a good easter.

A fairly quiet Easter weekend spent with family, walking, eating, sorting.
Listed more items for sale on fb marketplace, sold 1 item for a massive £4 profit.
Also set my younger two (15,13) off on a £10 Challenge. Gave them £10 each and they have to turn it into £1000.
Mynoldee 2 did similar, the oldest, now 22, bought and sold sweets, pens, collectable figures. He made enough to buy a laptop for about £650.
My second bought £10 of sweets and ate them.
Guess which one has a lot of savings and which not quite as much.
So the younger 2 are having a go. The youngest has decided to buy and sell clothing. She's set herself up on a selling site, and Instagram. She's been put and spent half her money on 2 items of labelled clothing from the charity shop. We've done photos and listed them. Her older brother is watching. Apparently if it works for her, he will have a go too..

I have just read your last post about bus travel, etc. Thats a great idea…the buses are running anyway (well, some of them…hardly any in the remote areas like here) so donating unused free travel makes a lot of sense.
I think retiree properties aren’t a great idea anyway, shove a load of old people together and they’ll just get older, it’s a bit like waiting for god! It’s not that they get a better health service all in one place or any real benefits. The newer apartments must be a lot swankier for the price, but for people who can only stretch to lower prices, it makes complete sense to make all properties available. Around here you could get a massive house for £350k, but there aren’t many well paid job options, so paying out that level of money/mortgage is rarer. Not all who wander are lost - J.R.R.Tolkien

Totally agree about retiree properties @WinterWarrior I think they're mostly pretty dire, and could be done in a much better way. Loneliness is a massive issue amongst older people so I can see there is a need for community, but blocks of flats with little interaction isn't a community.
So, my son has decided he might buy £10 of cleaning products and do the cleaning instead of our cleaner. (I just recently hired someone). Hmm. I'm not convinced it will last long, but to be honest, our cleaner isn't amazing, so maybe it's not a bad plan. We will see. I love how entrepreneureal my daughter is, she has taken the bull by the horns and now has people donating clothes to her to sell. 😂.Its good to see.
I've still got to shift some furniture as I have my eye on some better pieces in the local auction house for my side hustle. It's all go. X£2699 credit card (£3848 01.02.23)

What a brilliant way of making kids aware of money.... wish I'd done it with mine, but it's quite a few decades too late!

@Chrystal and @WinterWarrior it's a great way. We started when my oldest wanted to buy a laptop I just couldn't afford. I wish I had done it as a kid too, instead of seeing how far I could stretch a tenner, seeing how I could turn it onto something would have been a useful lesson.
My girl may not make loads, or even anything, but she's learning about how to buy stock, take photos, set up on a selling platform, present items, how to run a basic balance sheet. She's also learning that working for money can be fun, that we support her and that there are ways of making a small amount of money turn a profit.
I'd totally recommend it to anyone with kids / grandkids.£2699 credit card (£3848 01.02.23)

Another good week.
I received a £350 bonus for funding another staff member, along with good service charge.
We have made enquiries about a mortgage, we are making progress and hope to have an offer by the end of the week. We are borrowing extra so we can complete the work on our house. Ironic, in a debt free wannabe place.
For those who are interested, my daughter has turned her £10 into £22.50 so far, and is busy reinvesting in more clothes to sell. I think I've unleashed quite the entrepreneur in her.
Today, for the 1st time, I managed to get the credit card debt below £2000. What a feeling.
