  • Last night was wonderful, I'm very lucky to live in area with so many fantastic restaurants on my doorstep. I used my tips to pay someone else's, it felt good.

Today another storm has prevented me visiting my friend for the roast dinner, but at least it's meant a bit of quiet and no money spent.

    Today's totals:

    Credit card: £3532
    Od1: - £1264
    Od2: + £34
    £2699 credit card (£3848 01.02.23)

£39.75 Italy fund (cash back, interest, ebay sales only
  • Today I've been a proper mard !!!!!!. Despite having a day off with my husband, and the sun was shining, I was just in a funk. Luckily my husband decided to just roll with it, and not try to get me out of it. Sometimes you just need to sit in it.

Just one week left until payday, and it's looking like we will make it. A top up Aldi shop today should take us through, pretty sure we don't need to buy anything this week. The phone bill went out, which reminded me that I have put us all on a sim only deal which has halved our phone bill. And I recently signed up for top cashback, I doubt we will save masses, but even a small amount is something.

Back to work tomorrow. I wish I could work a 4 day week...

  • It's been a while, dear readers.

Payday today, we made it to the end of the month, with just enough to pay the leccy bill, which is the last 1 to go out.

Good extra service in my pay packet this month means we can hopefully improve things a bit more.

Just had a night away with husband.  He doesn't drink, so we prefer to get away occasionally rather than spend going out drinking.

So, currently the bank accounts are looking a bit more positive due to pay day.  Let's see how I manage this month.  In February I managed loads of no spend days. And I made an extra £240 on top of wages and service/tips. I also spent less on food by doing a weekly aldi shop, and far fewer takeaways. I drank less alcohol too.

    My aims for March are:

Continue with the positive actions I did in February.
    To increase my extra earnings.
    To budget food shopping.

To keep put if the smaller over draft and to have £200 left at the end of March in big overdraft. I've managed to get it over £100 the last two months, so small improvements.  Lastly, to have the credit card debt in the 2000's by the end of March.

    Wish me luck.

Last week was a busy week. An awards ceremony on Thursday, a party saturday night, Sunday lunch at work.  This week covid has hit my household, so somewhat quieter.

Food shop was £50 today, should be good to last for the rest of this week and we'll into next week. Our budget is £250 for the month, at £130 so far, so on target.

All bills paid this month, feeling positive about everything. There's food in the fridge and cupboard, bills paid, feeling in control of finances.

    Today's totals:

    Credit card £2878
    Od1-£872
    Od2 -£16

Spent all week lolling about on the sofa, recovering from covid. Still got it, but I see signs of improvement, and husband has taken himself for a bit of fresh air.
As he works for himself it's going to. Hit the finances hard, nothing earned this week.
On the plus side, we've not spent anything really, bar a deposit for a night away for our wedding anniversary. No coffees out, no takeaway or eating out, no driving cars.
Going to attempt to tart up a unit I bought at auction today, and another needs finishing. At least they will bring some money in. Also going to broach the subject of selling surplus items. It's a touchy one as I don't have any (certainly nothing of any worth), where ad he has tonnes. Some may call him a hoarder in training.
New Internet arrived today, that's £14 per month saved.
Right, I must go, I've potatoes in the oven.

@WinterWarrior Sadly, yes. I've tried that before, he seems to have an amazing ability to not be able to locate something, resulting in a 2nd being bought, but if I tried to sneak 1 out...

The stupid thing is he knows he feels better once he sells some stuff, it's just getting him to part with it.

Ooh, @lucielle do you know, that would work for me, never tried it with him!

Good news is, I have just sold an item of furniture I bought with the intention of being used in a new kitchen layout. Then I changed my mind, but I made £150 profit, so happy with that. Got another item up for sale too, so that's me on with clearing out my items.

  • It's been a successful week, despite a lovely bout of postcovid laryngitis.

I sold a dresser that I had bought for my kitchen for a £170 profit, and a fire surround I no longer need for £50 profit.

I've about made it through the month without using every last penny in my overdraft, keeping the smaller one out of overdraft, and managed to pay some of the credit card.  I even managed to persuade my husband to sell a couple of items. It's a start.

Going away for the night on Sunday to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary. Would be nice to sell some other items so it doesn't make too much of a dent in the finances, but we will see.
