When I grow up

  • Today does not feel good.
Spent more than I wanted to, eating out with my family, spending more than usual.
Generally I enjoy Mondays with my husband, it's our time, but today had been about errands, and ended up seeing our older children. Which was lovely, but fairly expensive.
    Plus a failed Mot.
I've not made any headway selling things today either.
Just all feels a bit meh.
    Brighter day tomorrow.

  • Good luck sugar. I still don’t know what I want to be when I grow up, but I’m only 51…there’s time yet 😁

  • Thank you @WinterWarrior. One day I will discover what I want to do. At least I may be out of debt eventually.

  • Back at work today. So an easy no spend day.  Good job as we seem to have racked up a small fortune yesterday.

Today I signed up to a couple of cashback sites, and I've resisted dipping into my overdraft to pay the credit card. It's tough, after years of paying every penny towards the credit card, to accept it is better to not go overdrawn.

I just read a blog post on the small luxuries that make us feel rich. For me, tasty home cooked food, a pamper bath, good sheets. New towels are on the agenda one day in the near future. Good soap that I order. Supermarket flowers, not always choosing the cheapest wine.  The view from my window. Laughing with my family.

What little things make you feel better? X

Walking on the coast path makes me feel better and sitting in my conservatory in the sunshine reading a book with a glass of wine or cup of hot chocolate. Spending some time with my grandchildren and children/husband also makes me feel very lucky.

  • I also appreciate good bar of hand soap. I’d forgotten the joy of it until I stopped buying unnecessary plastic and went back to bars instead of liquid soap, shampoo and shower gel. Now I really love finding a new bar with a great smell. I’ve found soft ones use up quicker, but are much nicer to use. The rock hard ones don’t lather as nice at all. Unfortunately buying on line means you sometimes find out the hard way 😬
I also love chocolate of any kind (except the dark and bitter stuff…give me a Freddo any day!) and a really nice bottle of pop (like fentimans, etc.). Not too dear, but still feel like a luxury. And of course a good book (or even better, a newly discovered author where there are lots to get through one after the other).

  • @WinterWarrior we started ordering nice soap in the 1st lockdown as my husbands hands were cracking badly with all the washing. I order a mystery box of 8 ish soaps each time, it's no joke that I actually love getting them.

    Maybe I need a life.

Sometimes I love cheap chocolate, others a square or 2 of dark salted.

Reading is something I should start doing again, it's been a very very long time since I did.

  • At this time of year daffodils in a jug on the table are my luxury. Like ES, anytime spent on the cliff path or beach I count as joy.
Well done on the credit card reduction thus far.
