It’s an old story and one that was posted here at the time,

Gosh - it's clearly big business - no wonder RM want that trade stopping - that's a big bite out of their business.   But the general public have to take some of the blame, they're creating the demand and there's always someone prepared to oblige if there's easy money to be made.

You mean the people who want something cheaper than the standard price; will buy it knowing there's a good chance it's a fake and use it anyway?  With stamps - they are either assuming they will get away with it; or they are happy with the fact that the recipient will end up taking the penalty.
I need to think of something new here...

It's just the same as people who used to copy films and sell copies onto their mates on the cheap, or all those people on facebook selling 'excellent' copies of high end branded goods with the excuse that selling a dodgy Chanel bag doesn't do anyone any harm. people can excuse anything in their minds if they believe something should be aquired cheaper.

Anyway, it appears that eBay have a policy on counterfeit and "replica" stamps; https://www.ebay.co.uk/help/policies/prohibited-restricted-items/stamps-policy?id=5043
So you can sell "replica" stamps as long as you state what they are but they won't let you sell a "replica" Gucci handbag.  Double standards me thinks, obviously big money speaks louder than morality.

I am trying to work out the difference between a counterfeit and a replica stamp.

A replica is stated to be such; a counterfeit is not.   Otherwise - they could well be identical.

is anyone else able to get onto the RM shop site to buy stamps as I haven't been able to check out now for 3 days. If I am patient I can add things to my basket , but it will never load the payment page.

I'm just trying to buy a stock of barcoded stamps before the price increase, I did manage to buy one lot but now have money to buy more.

I did a few days ago and did receive the items - they came in two lots, the 1st class came a day later than the rest.

Just trying now, I can add things to my basket and go to checkout and when I put my email in it asks me to log in. I didn't go any further - but no particular problems getting that far.

I’m logged in, basket full, address confirmed but when I click to checkout I end up back where I started. I have tried opting for ‘use PayPal’ and ‘use card’ and have tried 2 different browsers but cannot actually pay.
