Huh, they've completely changed the colours too.

I'm looking to stock up before the price change and on a whim wondered if I liked any of the picture ones (I don't need 1st class to be strictly plain); these ones say they are collectible.  I was going to check the RM website about swapping but it's currently unavailable; does anyone here understand the info so far well enough to say whether these would need to be swapped or not please?  https://shop.royalmail.com/postage-and-packaging/first-and-second-class-stamps/wild-coasts-half-sheet-1st-class-x-25-northern-gannet
Based on the current policy, those will continue to be valid. At present, bar codes aren’t being added to the type of stamps in your link and so will remain valid even after 31 January 23 (but that could change in the future).
    Great, thanks.

Will Royal Mail be allocating Special Delivery labels for those who have takem Martin's advice and now have large quantities of stamps to swap out (e.g. £600 worth)?

As per the rest of the thread, details of the swap out scheme are unknown at the moment, it is all a bit vague. That's why I am attempting to use as many of mine as I can.

Same here. I had to explain to the man in the post office/shop why I needed to add 3p to 6 Large Letters and have been needing various tiny amounts for the past week or so. He hadn't heard of the change

???   The next price change doesn't take effect until 4th April.  Where's your extra 3p coming into it?
I need to think of something new here...

Like NBLondon asks, why the extra 3p?

    Today I am being very creative with large letters- I found a sheet of 2p stamps so for my £1.53 LLs I can use 1 x 1st 1 x 2nd and a 2p - 3 stamps each time!

Must list more LL size items quickly...

I went to the PO today and asked if I could buy a few books of the new barcoded stamps. I was told that they were not allowed to sell them before April 4th and they could only sell me normal ones before then.

Has anyone bought direct online and received new barcoded ones, I’d like to start building up a small stock before the price rise.

Unbelievable that prices are going up again - and quite big jumps - considering they are being phased out and won't be accepted next year.

Surely just wait until barcoded stamps takeover in 2023.
Barcoded stamps have already taken over - we cannot buy definitives in books that aren't barcoded now.  haven't tried buying individual stamps recently though.  Can't see how the price rise is a issue - they will still be 1st or 2nd Class stamps.  Buy 'em now (make sure they are bar-coded) whilst they're the old price - it's an opportunity not a problem.
Bought a book of 2nd yesterday - no barcodes - and none in stock yet.

You make it sound like a price rise is a good thing.

It’s clearly not a good thing, but if you can buy them before the price rise and still use them afterwards, it’s not a bad thing either - it just means the price rise has no impact for a while. It’s definitely a strategy worth considering because if inflation keeps up with where it is and perhaps gets even higher, I can see significant price increases again next year and perhaps even later again this year.
