£5 has been going back and forth from our account and M&S as every evening they let us know they cannot make up the TGTG box that day. It is a good job we were not depending on it late on Saturday to feed a hungry family on Sunday. The one box we had was good, fresh soup, cheese, sausages, broccoli, and two small puddings.

So much to read, so little time.0 -
You get some M&S stuff in the Costa bags.0

The TGTG is for the M&S Food shop in the local motorway service station.
They had nothing again yesterday evening.1 -

The Costa bags vary on the branch. As another poster said the ratings are key but even then take it with a pinch of salt. I have 3 Costa nearby but pick up is too late at the moment as I have a 4 year old to feed usually at the collection time. My sister 10 miles away has I think 6 nearby either on its own or part of Tesco/next. Ive tried 2 in the past but only get 3 savoury items like roasties, rolls, sandwiches etc, for £3 it’s ok but not amazing. There is one that allows collection from 3pm, that one is better I usually get 3 sweet items and 2/3 savoury items. Certainly much better value and variety.
I also have a Spar nearby that I can collect from 3pm. I’ve had 3 bags from there for £4 each -
1, pizza, cakes, bacon, bottle of fizzy drink, veg and a chicken samosa
2, 4 pints of milk, 2 chilled pasties, 1 microwave burger, 1 bottle of salad dressing, 1 bottle of fizzy drink, bag of cheese, punnet of mushrooms and last minute she gave me 4 Cornish pasties
3, wholemeal bread, carton of orange juice, microwave burger, bag of cheese, 3 sweet tarts, 2 fresh sausage rolls and a fresh steak slice
I’ve decided this one will become a regular Saturday treat as and when I’m in town.I also tried Morrisons only once as I was in town at that time. That was a decent box. A local bakery popped up near us too, I was itching to try it but it was only on 1/2 times a week and always when I wasn’t in town. The a few weeks back it came on when I was in town, I was so excited. I got 1 brownie, 1 slice of chocolate cake and 3 little truffles. Admittedly the place is expensive but I felt disappointed and considered it a lesson learnt.:money::rotfl::T2 -
DH persevered with the £5 TGTG at M&S and was rewarded with a good selection tonight, cheesy ravioli, soup, cheesy garlic bread, a ham sandwich, cold chicken slices, iced buns, and tonic water. The full price would have been £18.90. I can add a few vegetables.
We gave the tonic water away. The six other items have made the two of us lunch and dinner for two days, and buns for tea. Nothing was wasted.4 -
This was the £3.09 bag we had from Morrisons. It was a challenge to avoid wasting anything. The Mediterranean vegetables went straight into a pot of soup with rapeseed oil, red lentils, and tomato purée. The soft raspberries made almost a pound of jam with the very wonky lemon and 350g of sugar even before I had made a cup of tea. The bread from the bakery lasted well, we toasted it when it was getting a bit stale. Our only waste was the mint which went in the compost bin.
When we checked what was in the bag and put it in the car, we checked the offers in store. I got a 4 pint bottle of left over whipping cream from the in store bakery for £1.
It made 1lb 12oz (800g) of butter, which I have frozen in 4oz weekly portions, and the last bit of cream and buttermilk made custard.

I think Morrisons is probably the best value overall but does tend to be mostly left over fruit and veg so you have to have a method of using/storing it in bulk.3

I had a £4 breakfast bag from Hotel du vin this week, and it contained 2 croissants and another whirly style pastry, (Croissant no better than 49p one from Lidl bakery); and a separate container of 3 posh sausages, a slice of black pudding (ugh) several cooked small tomatoes (about 4 I think) and a large dollop of scrambled egg. Although undoubtedly cheaper than eating in house, not particularly good value imho.
