Having a think about that.  I'm out of date now with the practicalities - to be honest, I didn't even know about the Carer's Passport that you mention upthread.


In your situation ... 

- are you sure you know what help is available to you?  From official bodies nationally, from various parts of the NHS (district nurses and so on), from local organisations and charities.

- what about Cruse?  Or hospice outpatient care?  Your phrase "preparing to be a widow" really hit me.  I'm sorry that this is very blunt, too blunt, but you're facing it head on.  

- your OH and you sound very strong together, are you able to talk about these issues?  And about the future?  And this might sound weird, but are there other people you need to talk to?

- is there anything that you and/or OH feel is lacking?  Is there an advocate who can help you?  

- of course, you may have been writing that post on a day that was particularly bad.  Are there good days, or at least good moments?  Can you celebrate the wins?  Special teas, special fruits?

- medical issues.  Do you both understand them?  Obviously, the NHS is under massive stress, but you're still entitled to ask for what you want, rather than keep silent for overstretching them.  

I've no idea if this is what you were thinking of when you mentioned this - if its off key, I apologise.  I'm thinking less of my therapist work, and more of family and friends who've been through this, I hope its okay.  Let me know if you want me to delete it.

Is it time sensitive?  And can you sign up for January but drop it later? 

Having rather been there and got several t-shirts with the study+work thing, I'd make sure you have a get out clause if things are looking complicated at home. 

I'm wondering now if I can pause for another year.

Alchemilla, I'm so sorry to hear what you've posted today, that your lovely OH doesn't have long.  Sending love and peace to you both.  And if you need to use your diary to decompress, then do ... you can always delete it if you find it doesn't feel right.  Any way you can get through.
