Thanks @PennysIntoPounds, @beanielou, @Brewerspride, @Brie, @Watty1 😊
We are safely in the land of north after an easy journey and although the shower is useless, the beds are comfortable. I suspect we will both sleep well tonight! Made our way first to our favourite, mad, muddly second hand bookshop where we both found lovely books 😊😉 Had a hearty lunch and then headed back into the city to buy and armful of flowers for my mum, which were appreciated 😊 There have been a detour to a militaria shop, around the corner from which there may have been a craft shop … ahem … 😉
Had dinner with my parents this evening which went really well. We found enough to talk about and there were no awkward moments. Picking my dad up at about 9am tomorrow to go on the steam train and paddle steamer trips! 😊 The forecast is really good for tomorrow so hopefully that will be fun 😊
Tired now, so signing out x

We are safely home now. It’s been an exhausting weekend - I never sleep well when away from home, yesterday was a nonstop round of car, train, boat, lunch, boat, train, car, shower, dinner … It was quite meditative, being on the lake as it was quite noisy making chatting difficult, so there was nothing to do but look at the water and the scenery. That was quite nice.Dinner went well last night until my dad got cross with me because where I work shuts down for the week at Friday lunchtimes. That offended him and he got quite snarky about it at me - I laughed it off and we changed the subject. In a strange way it was quite good that it happened as there had been no tension or discomfort in the dynamic up to that point, which made me wonder if I had been being over sensitive previously, but experiencing that from him made me understand that I am not imagining things about how things are between myself and my parents … 🤷♀️
We left early this morning and have just got back. The first part of the journey was pretty easy but then we got caught in biblical levels of rain in the M5 and some quite ‘exciting’ surface flooding on the last section of country lanes before home. 😳 There was talk on the village WhatsApp group about lightening strikes ⛈️ killing the power, but ours seems to be okay. We got back during a gap in the storm so managed to unload without getting drenched 😊First load of washing is in and after a cuppa we are going to spring Chloe from jail! Further updates about her reaction to this to follow … 😉

She was really funny. As soon as she heard our voices in the Cattery, she dived in to the cat box in her pen! Not sure if that was scaredness or anticipation of going home, but it made making her ‘journey ready’ very easy 😊beanielou said:At least it’s done. Hope Chloe will be pleased to be home.
She meeped a bit on the way home but was mostly quiet. We fed her as soon as we got home and she had a mouthful and gave me a quick leg rub before asking to go out. We let her out and left the lounge door open and she has come and gone, come and gone, in and out for the last hour! 😂😊 There is quite a lot of rubbing and purring, so I think we are forgiven 😊❤️
