I often have disagreements here with my DP. He's great at doing DIY so I generally leave him to his own devices but I've noticed he will spend say a whole weekend on a temporary job (and money) because he'd rather have a temporary fix for a month and I disagree saying I'd rather save the money and time towards the actual, real, proper job and live with it as is. This in my opinion, is over doing it, not quite the same problem as you have but equally as annoying to me 🫣 and I try to be quiet but do tend to disagree quite a lot and we will skulk off into various corners of the house until we can reach an agreement 🤣
Hope you both reach your agreement soon.3 -
Sympathies and hugs. You've said in your post very clearly your completely valid reasons for not wanting that. Maybe make up tonight and say 'we can discuss it tomorrow with a good night's sleep behind us' then read that list tomorrow. Though maybe leave out the bit about his boss's mansion in case he feels his manhood is being challenged while he's still potentially tetchy. You can always save it as a retort if you feel you're not being listened to 😁
Is there another job you can ask him to prioritise that only him and his brilliant skills could possibly do to help his damsel in distress?https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6466032/an-in-between-phase

Thanks @beanielou, I just needed to be heard and you did that for me 😊 x
@Brewerspride, he was in a good mood when he came back in from an hour in the garage. Apparently he’d been tidying, though I couldn’t really see any difference … 🤷♀️😳😉😂😊
@debtfreewannabe321, oh the skulking in different corners of the house is soooo familiar! 😉
@PennysIntoPounds, he lit the wood stove for the first time this autumn at my request last night, so he’d done that and I was able to thank him nicely 😊 Tbh, saying about his boss’s mansion is the one thing that might actually connect with him. There is also ‘mission creep’ as far as I’m concerned - it was path along the front and slab the verandah as far as I knew. The bit in between we hadn’t discussed and we obviously have very different perspectives on what should happen there! 😉
We’ll discuss it again at the weekend I’m sure.In the meantime, I must share the dream I had this morning. It was about a strange antiques / tea room place where the owner was keeping the best cakes in a dark wooden cupboard till Christmas to be ready. She showed us these treasures and the one I really remember is a dark chocolate and rhubarb cake. The individual wedge slices of cake had been covered in dark chocolate and then topped with a candied piece of very pink rhubarb. It looked amazing! 😊
(I have noooo idea why I am dreaming about cake. I mean I quite like it, but it’s not usually my first choice … 🤷♀️😉)
Right must get shifting early as I only have 40 miles of fuel left in the car! 😳

Wowsers … what a day to add into a long and challenging week …
Within an hour of arriving I had an annoying colleague being distressed at me as he shared the news that the appointment with his mother yesterday informed them that her treatment was going to go to palliative care! 😳 I don’t particularly like this individual but he was so distressed and shocked I really felt for him. Within the same hour we discovered that one of the most popular members of the technical team who has just qualified has got another job and will be gone in three weeks! 😳
We then had meetings, a supplier visit, significant, multiple quality problems on the same assembly line, a legal threat from the water company I needed to respond to - I did but the email didn’t work so spent 30 minutes trying to call them, and on and on … 😳
When I got home Mr KK was out so I spent 10 minutes in the garden deadheading the cut flower bed and then cut myself some flowers as an antidote for myself before the rain started again! 😊
